The Irving' fancy dress ball came off last evening at Gothic Hall.

The attendance was very large, and such an array of beautiful ladies, decked in the varied costumes of different climes and ages, is seldom seen within the walls of old Gothic. There was the Daughter of the Regiment, the Goddess of Liberty, and numerous "Bonnie Highland lasses" and peasant girls. Richard the Third, Eichmond, Hamlet, Louis XVI. and Macbeth were associating, and seemingly on the best of terms, with brigands, Turks, Greeks, (both modern and ancient) and a general collection of representatives of all countries. The dancing was kept up with unabated vigor till a late hour this morning, when the company dispersed well pleased with the night's amuse ment.

The Concert for the benefit of the Old Ladies Home took placo as was announced at the Plymouth Church last evening. It proved to be a most decided success. The church was filled to overflowing, and the music was rendered in a style that evinced the great care and pains that had been bestowed upon it by the manager of this colossal undertaking, Mr. Hager. A repetition of the concert was proposed by the Rev.

Dr. Bethuae and seconded by Mr. Buck, which met with the unanimous approval of the vast assemblage. Due notice will be given of its taking place. The lady managers who suggested the concert, must have been highly gratified at the result: but what would have been the gratification of the lamented founder (tbe late John Graham, of this benevolent institution had he been alive to have witnessed the noble indorsing of his generous act by the charitable people of Brooklyn.

There were all of 3,000 persons present. Mr. Perkins, the conductor of the orchestra, rendered most efficient service. Concert in Bedford. On Tuesday evening last the little church on the corner of Clove Road and Pacific street was the scene of a rare musical entertainment.

Mr. C. W. Melville presided at the piano with his wonted ability and ease. Miss E.

Hall sung "The Widow to her Child," followed by thunders of applause, which would have called her out a second time if it had not been in the early part of the evening, before the audience had mustered courage enough to demand an encore. Mrs. Miles sang the sweet Scotch song, "Annie Laurie," which was encored so persistently, that she was com pelled to coine out with "The Rowan Tree." Miss C. Ross, in the Scotch air, a' the steer, kimmer," took the house by storm, and at its urgent call, came gracefully forward with "Charlie." Miss Coleman, in the duett, "The Syren and the Friar," in which Mr. T.

White ably seconded her, exhibited great sweetness and compass of voice, with a power and ease of execution that made it a luxury to listen. The duett, "There's a Sigh in the Heart," by Miss H. Lefferts and Mr. Wiebe, was among the sweetest and most finished performances of tho evening, and made every liearl in the house ligh for more of the same sort. Miss L.

is a beautiful example of the power of Mr. Weibe's teaching to do velope the capacities of a naturally good voice, which only wanted training and encouragement. In the tenor solo, Mr. Thomas Bull excelled himself. This part in the solo and chorus, "God of the Fatherless," was also admirably executed.

The solo, in baritone, by Mr. Wiebe, was a master piece of excellence, worthy of the high reputation he has achieved. The duett, "LeBanzdes Vaches," by Miss C. Ross and Miss E. Hall, is still echoing in our ear.

There were other performers, who took part in the choruses, with excellent taste and voice. The whole was under the direction of Mr. F. D. Clarke, who, as he always does, performed his part to admiration.

The house was crowded to its utmost capacity. The audience was in admirable humor, and went away delighted with the evening's entertainment, and making the day as one of the golden days in the Bedford calendar. The complete success of this concert was the more remarkable, as owing to tha severity of the weather and other causes, the performers had scarcely a chance to sing together till they met in the church. W. Melancholy.

Officers Lott and Morrell, of the 8th district police, last evening discovered a woman named Margaret Mallony lying in a state of intoxication on the sidewalk in 14th street, near 4th avenue. On taking her up it was found that her leg was broken above the ankle. She probably received the injury from a fall was conveyed to the City Hospital. She THE COURTS. Circuit Court.
