Steamnu Whip. Officer Albertce, of the first district, on Saturdnry arrested Abraham Osbora on a charge of stealing a whip from Bailey's stable in Jay street. He was committed lor trial. Lauckxt. On Saturday eveniug about seven o'clock, a man named Abner Osborne was arrested for stealing a whip from James Baily, on Laureueo street.

Tic was locked up for cxami tion. A uiun uained Michael Farley was arrested on' Saturday on a charge of receiving stolen goods. It appears that a dress was stolen on Friday, and found in his store in Boerum street, near Atlantic. He was held for examination. Stealing Potatoes.

Officer Frost, of the lirst district, on Saturday night arrested John Mc Moore, whom he caught iu the act of stealing potatoes from the store of Mr. Sutton, on Fulton st. Committed. Found Dhowned. The body of an infant, apparently some three or four wee ks old, was found drowned on Saturday at the South Ferry.

An inquest was held upon it, and a verdict in accordance was rendered. The best way to. succeed is to persevere. Sir Isaac Newton on being asked how ho discovered the laws which govern the universe, replied, "By always thinking of them." Again we say, persevere. The man who never cries "enough," always whips.

Jas. W. Stone is being examined this forenoon on a charge of hiring horses and wagons ai, livery stables, and then selling them. He obtained a horse and wagon from Mr. Hendrickson's livery stable on Fulton avenue, which he disposed of in this way.

Camphb.ne Accident. A campheue lump in the house of Mr. Stratton, No 222 Jay street, exploded on Friday evening while being filled with fluid, which was scattered over Mrs. Stratton and two of her children, but fortunately injuring them but slightly. Last evening a number of men made a disturbance in Kelsey's Alley, and on Columbia street, at about 9 o'clock, iu the course of which out man named Dowd drew a knife and attempted to stab Phillip Clare.

Warrents have been issued for the arrest of the ring leaders. Serious Accident. A small lad nuiued Henry Debar, whose mother resides on the corner of Middah and Hicks streets, was run over by a Doctor's gig, driven by a boy, in Schermcrhorn street, while on bis way to school. The injuries received are of a serious character. One of his fingers was taken off, and his collar bone was broken.
