Law yer Hugo Hirsh was assigned by tfhe court to defend the prisoner and the trial is set down for October 20. Ferraro was arraigned and pleaded not guilty. Patrick Griffin of 711R Leonard street and John MeKenna of ISO Java street, each 15 years old. are jointly indicted with John Me Crea, son of a well known bagpiper, and also with Thomas MoMurray, for burglary in breaking in.to (foe store of Bernard Grecnstein in Greenpoint. John's as a manager from the Church of the Messiah and seemed the appropriate one to go there. Dr. Bunn refused to allow the soldiers to go to the theater on the grounds, he says, given in his statement. These women, however, went among the soldiers to see who wanted to go, having first Inquired of Sister Rebecca and the nurses as to who were able to go. Sister Rebecca consented to their going and they got ready.

Sister Rebecca has said that she did not know the superintendent had given his opinion in the matter. The Daughters of the Revolution, Mrs. Geran said, were simply disturbed at Dr. Bunn's attitude; that was all. Dr.

Bunn's side of the case may be seen by the following statement made to an Eagle reporter who questioned him regarding the matrer: "I have only to aay that when I received a letter from a lady representing a company of Daughters of the Revolution, offering to take some of our soldiers to a theater matinee, I asked my secretary to write her (I being ill) cordially thanking her for the kind Invitation, but saying that our men were not In condition to accept. My meaning was, as I explained to another ot the ladies who called, that 1 thought it not good for hospital patients to go out for a whole afternoon, spending several hours in a room that might be close and crowded. Yesterday (Wednesday) I was a good deal surprised to learn that arrangements had been made to take a company of our men to a matinee that afternoon and that the men had been talked with and were expecting to go.
