On Saturday night about ten o'clock, Mrs. Mary Echierwger, who resides at the oomcr of Broome and Norfolk streets, New York, fell overboard at the Catherine ferry in attempting to get on shore, the fog being Tery dense.

Death froxIntcmpkrancs. Coroner Horton held an inquest this morning npon the body of Mary King, who was found dead in led at her residence on the corner of Pacific and Vander bllt avennes. It appears that she was in the habit of drinking, and yesterday did not draw a sober breath. She went to bed at 11 o'clock drunk, and died of congestion of the brain during the night. A verdict in accordance with the facts was rendered by the jury.

Jurors' Finis in the Citt Court. We stated on Saturday that the amount of delinquent jurors' fines for the term was $615. This was for oae week instead of for the term. The whole amount of fines imposed in this Court thus far is $33,975. It appears from the figures that the revenue derived from this source alone will amount to sufficient to pay the greater portion of the County expenses.

The amount of fines imposed in the Circuit Court and Court of Sessions is not included. The Calvary (Episcopal) Church in Pearl street was crowded to ovei flawing las evening to listen to a discourse by the Bev. Mr. Bemington, who has been engaged to preach in the above edifice every Sabbath evening. The members of this Church are making laudable efforts to extend its sphere of usefulness, in which noble work we trust they may be sue ctssfnl.

Some time since the building was closed in consequence of its diminished congregation, but of late it has been re opened, and numbers are now continually added to its wor shippers. A Park for Williamsbuqh. Petitions are being circulated in the Eastern District, and numerously signed, asking for the passage of an act to lay out a Park in the 15th ward, on th site of the old "Freestone Burying Ground," bounded by lorimer Union Devoe and Powers sts. The location is pleasant, and the grounds are large enough to make a respectable Park, by closing Ainslie street, which never can become a business thoroughfare. There is no other vacant spot in WilliamBburgh at all suitable for a Park, and if the people of the district really want what they have long been clamoring for, a public park, this is the best opportunity they will ever have.

Thi Cooktv Fabm. The proposal to purchase the strip of land adjoining the present county arm has led to a movement in the Board of Su pervisors to purchase the "Crooke farm," situated at a distance of three miles from the present site. This proposition can hardly receive any support in the Board of Supervisors. Its adop tion would involve the necessity of removing the present buildings, but recently erected at a great expense, and would be equal to their destruction and the loss of their original cost. To jastify such a removal, some extraordinary reason must exi but none can be given.

Tie present site may be made suitable for all time to come. The purchase of the ground adjoining the present buildings will isolate them from adjoining property and prevent the danger of contagion ever extending beyond the present pre ciccts of the hospitals. It is almost unaccountable that the proposition to purchase the ground should have met with opposition, and still more so, that the idea of removing the institutions to another site should have found any advocates. Fibbs. About 2 o'clock Sunday morning, a fire broke out in a frame building situate on Prospect Hill, owned by Isaao Smith, and lately occupied by Miles "Wood as a tavern.

The building, with contents, was totally destroyed, and as it was unoccupied at the time, is supposed to have been the work of an incendiary. The Iocs was abcut $400 no insurance. About the same time, a stable in Duffield street, near Fulton avenue, was found to be on fire. The flames were suppressed, however, before much damage wss done. The premises are owned by Abraham Stoothoff damage $26.

About 10 o'clock SuncUy morning, a fire was discovered in a large unfinished brick house, in Ormond street, near Fulton avenue. The flames soon extended to an adjoining building, and the interior wocd work of both was burnt out. The loss will amount to about $8,000 There can ba no doubt but that the fire was the work of an incendiary. About six o'clock this morning the stable of Mr. Stoothoff was set on fire, but fortunately was discovered in time to be put one before much damage was done.

The shot took effect in the right side of the neok, direotly under the ear, and ahe fell back into the basement crying out she was shot.

Barnard instant ly recognising her voice, exclaimed to hia wife, "Ob, my Godl I've shot the girl Dr. Mott and other Burgeons were immediately called in to dress the wound. They found two holes under the ear as if two balls had entered, and consid ered the girl in great danger. One ballet might have made the wounds by glan oing out again. Barnard, however, could not tell if there ware two or one bail in the pistol, the weapon having been left with him in pawn by an ex police man.

The girl was alive thia forenoon, with a bare possibility of recovery. The Coroners were called to make an ante mortem examination. The police took Barnard into custody, but the girl had no complaint to make, believing the occurrence accidental. Cottld hot Aqbbb. The Jury in the insurance oase of Nesmithva.

HoaamLB Mtodke A Wokah Bbatbn to Death by her Husband. An attrooious murder was committed on Saturday, in the Fourth Ward a man having beaten his wife to death. The name of the murderer is John Murphy, who, together with his wife and children, and several brothers with their wives and children, occupied two adjoiniDg rooms in the tenement house rear of No.

33 Ojfc street. Tbe deceased and her husband were both in the habit of drinking to excess, and while in that state of fighting and quarrelling. They were both under the influence of liquor when the acts of violecce were committed. The murderous instrument was a leather strap, which he usually woro around hia body, and be beat her with it until she was covered with lacerated wounds and her face so disfigured that her recognition was almost impossible. The husband ran away, and has not yet been found.

An inquest was held yesterday and a verdict rendered, charging Thomaa Murphy, his brother, with being ah acoessory to the murder, he being present and not interfering on behalf of the deceased.
