(Eagle Information Bureau Correspondence.) Asbury Park. N. July 17 All other attractions at the sea side went Into comparative insignificance before the grand display that Old Neptune made of himself this week. The summer visitors forsook their usual methods of entertaining themselves and flocked to the beach to see the spectacle of the ma gniflcent surf. The storm was enjoyed especially, of course, by the visitors from inland, who had, perhaps, never seen a storm at soa.

The women were even braver than the men In facing the driving rain and standing for hours feasting their eyes on the scene. Founder Bradley has a slight attack of the blues because of the several thousand dollars which the ocean stole ou't of hU coffers. But, then, the senator never gets excited or very much worried. While the breakers were making kindling wood of his famous promenado he laughingly said to the writer who inquired how he thought he would get out of the storm, "Like Corbett did at Carson City. Many workmen are rapidly pushing tne necessary repairs to the promenade toward completion so the broad walk will not many days be closed to pedestrianism.

Bicycling interests on this part of the coast have been given a boom by the hustling enterprise of William A. Brady. Mr. Brady haa arranged for a meet on the athletio grounds August 3. at which a number of the fastest flyers in the country will be present and compete.

The meet will be under the sanction of the L. A. W. and ts expected to draw a large attendance of crack riders from the national meet ajt Philadelphia. The star attraction will be James J.

Corbett. Corbett' popularity in this viclniity, where he trained for three of his great battles and where ha made a host of friends, will insure him a very hearty reception when he appears at the athletic grounds on a wheel. Grant, Alfred J. ReVeat Mrs. Alfred G. to prevent anything like monotony without considering the various social events of the pasts week. On Sunday the possibility of a yacht evidently manned by greenhorns being wrecked on the beach or sunk in the offing made the afternoon an exciting one, then followed the suspense regarding the fate of the crew until Tuesday morning, when the thrilling story of the rescue of the occupants of the yacht was told.

TQe ocean from the calmness of a millpond was In a few hours lashed Into a terrible fury and the great waves as high as a houso came tumbling over each other In rapid succession, breaking with a gTeat roar on tho hard sand beach. Only Uhe hardiest bathers ventured into the surf and they were carefully watched by the life guards. For those who love nature iu her roughest moods Long Beach was never more attractive than it has been during the past week. The wind and waves have kept the guests at the hotel so busy they have had little time or inclination for social events.
