The Challenges for Perpetual Trophies. The probability of a model yacht racing union or association, composed of the model yacht clubs in the vicinity of New York, was the chief subject of discussion last night at the regular meeting of the American Model Yacht Club at its rooms in the Liberty Hotel, on Fulton street. The scheme was conceived by the American Club and letters of invitation to a conference sent to the Wave Crest, Miniature Yacht Club and the New York, Brooklyn, Pastime and Philadelphia Model Yacht Clubs, the Pastime being a Paterson organization.

Last night letters of acceptance were read from the Wave Crest and New York clubs, with the additional information that conference committees bad been appointed by each. The bone of contention is a portion of the property in litigation between the Bauer estace and the Mc Kanes, at Coney Island, known as the Casino, which was the home of the Seaside Athletic Club, in the time of McKane. Some time ago the Eagle published the story of an attempt to re establish a boxing club in the old Seaside Club House, but the matter appeared to have died out.

It has sprung in to life again within a day or so. About a week ago Tom O'Rourke called on Ferdinand Reiss, the receiver of the property in litigation, and made overtures looking toward the leasing of the club house. He finally made an offer of $3,000 a year for the Casino. Mr. Reiss did not propose to do anytMng precipitately and said he would think the proposition over.

But this was 'just the preliminary stage, so to speak, in which the players worked off their superfluous energy and fighting predilections. There was some fine individual work in which Drysdale and Dobby showed up well, while Hall, the left end of the Yale "varsity foot ball eleven, who has been playing and practicing with Brooklyn during his vacation, did a bulk of the work for the blue.

Yale's goal keeper, Smith, did seme excellent defensive work and saved more than one iroal. It is difficult to see where Ewing got the idea that Brooklyn's star player was on the market, unless the easy manner in which he secured Tommy Corcoran and Claude Ritchey has led him to believe that ail is required of him is to point out just what player he wants and the transfer will be made instantly. He Is laboring under a delusion, however, when the present management is considered. When a reporter of the Eagle saw Mr. Ebbets this morning regarding Ewing's hopes, the new owner of the Brooklyn Club said emphatically "Jones cannot be had at any price. The Brooklyn Club has stopped disposing of its good men." This is significant and fully cavers the talk regarding Tommy Tucker.

The latter could have been secured for S300, an apparently insignificant sum considering the record of the player. But Tucker has at the most two or three years of activity left before he is relegated to Hasbecnville, while LaChance, despite his comparatively poor showing last season, is still a young man with a good future Watt, 163; Joslln. 178; total, 750.
