There was a bullet hole in the man'R neck. Ollicer CockR was informed that the body had not beon disturbed. It was in exactly tho same position as when found by the eldor flon.J. F. Murphy, somo hours boforo.

The son had gone to notify the coroner of his father's death before Oliicer Cocks was called. Tho pistol In the dead man's hand belonged to J. F. Murphy. Ho kept it in his bumau drawer.

On Saturday afternoon, ho says, ho went to his room to get it. was not there. He wont to his father's room and made the ghastly discovery. Murphy's family all say that ho cto his breakfast about 11 o'clock Saturday morning and wont to his room. Tho body was found at o'clock tho same day.

They hoerd no pistol shot, and neighbors on either side, who claim to bo able to hoar the Murphoys In ordinary conversation, heard no report. Another suspicious circumstance is the fact that the lmdy emitted an odor not unliko that from a corpse of several days. The blood arnuud tho wound was dry and hard. No one could be found who had seftu him since Friday. Tho position in which tho pistol was held was unnatural and the weapon was not in working order.

One chamber was empty. As stated in Friday's Eagle, the inqUest which was commenced on Thursday evening did not develop anything to warrant any arrests. Tho inquest will be continuod next Thursday and in the meantime tho coroner will have the case thoroughly investigated. Mnrphv was a dav laborer and had lived at Port Washington many years. He said there are only three kinds of people who arc not affected by unploasnnt circumstances. The grumbler and the miser are not affected, for they are miserablo anyway. Tho Christian is not affected, for ho trusts in God.

He said some people behove that the age for martyrs is pnst. If the circumstances that call for martyrs were ours today there would bs martyrs Just as brave sad true as over in the post.
