After the adjournment of the council tho contest in euchre tools place between Marlon and Klectrlc Councils, which resulted in Marlon winning thirty sanies and Klectrlc twenty games out of the fifty Barnes played for the trophy donated by Eagle Council. It is expected that another Initiation will take place In the council on March 27, to which all visitors are requested to bo present.

CATHOLIC KNIGHTS 03? AMERICA. The Brooklyn Council of Officers held a monthly meeting on Monday evening last. The deliberations were opened by Slate Secretary Conklln, who occupied the chair In the absence of the president. The various branches in thin borough were well represented and the delegatus submitted very satisfactory reports. Large increases In tho membership were reported on all sides.

Secretary Tombler submitted a communication from Secretary LouRhlhi of the Xew York Ulcers Council relatives td a meeting to be held on March 13. at which the sense of the various Xew York branches 011 the subject of the Passion Play to be presented during this Lenten season would bo solicited. Branch Xo. 2ii has definitely decided on a theater party to be given during the last week in April, "Shore Acres" having been selected. Bro.

O'ltourke, president of the M. B. referred to an entertainment which the association will give and President Griflln of Xo. 201 Muted that steps had been taken in the matter of the yearly Bummer reunion of the branch at Fcitman's, Coney Island. The council adjourned after Nome interesting remarks by National OrguuUer Hustings and Stato President Manne.

Columbia Branch Xo. 5 S(J. the women's branch organised last fall, convened on Monday evening. March 12, at Apollo Hall. President Mary P.

Sohaefer presided over the meeting. The acceptance of two applications for membership and the Initiation of two successful candidates was the cause oC much enthusiasm. The women have many more prospective members in view ond the branch is progressing beyond the expectations of the most optimistic of Its supporters. Ex Supreme President Bro. Edward Feeney of Xo.

Z'l was among the visitors, as was also a delegation from Xo. 1S6. composed of Bros. Loughran, Byrne. Dcery and Deputy McDonnell.

The remarks of the ex supreme president were appropriate. Pro. LoufTliran's witty sayings and humorous stories contributed much to the pleasures of the evening. After a short period of social exchanges the meeting was closed with tho usual devotions. An Interesting meeting was held by St.

F.agen occupied the chair in the absenco of President Power. The. members had assembled in unusually large numbers and enthusiasm and good fellowship reigned supreme. The meeting held by St. Agnes Branch Xo. S21 on Wednesday evening proved the most Interesting scBsion thus far this year. The announcement that President Qufnn was 1U was hoard with many regrets. Vice President John J.

Smith took the chair and conducted the proceedings. Secretary Duffy submitted tho application of another prospective member, proposed by Bro. Martin. Bro. Martin stated that he would propose still another candidate at the next mooting.

The visits of Comrade Seward to other councils should assure a large attendance this evening. St. John's Chapel Council Xo. 1 turned its meeting Wednesday evening into an informal euchre party, the prUen going to Comrades A. G.

Tho late slate president was a charter member of tho council and his fellow members have been generous in their individual contributions to the erection of a monument in his honor. South Brooklvn Council Xo. held lis meeting on March 5 in Grand Union Hall, llarri. on street, corner of Court. Tho meeting proved Interesting.

Among those present were Comrades Stephen Covle. McGrowe. Dixon and Hennersey of Madison Council. Comrades McGrowe and Hennessey made very stirring addresses, as did also Comrade Covle and the chaplain, the Rev. Father Mc Mahnn of St.

Mary Star of the Sea Council. Comrade McGowan and George E. Lanagan sang and save some recitations. The next meeting will be held on March 13, when a large attendance is expected. KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS.

On Wednesdav evening Leo Council Xo. 122 held Its meeting, after which Lecturer John Lambet treated the members to a rtnely prepared entertainment. Bro. Edward Byrne of La Salle headed the programme with piano selections. Bro.

James Casev of Fort Green told stories. Bro. Hunt was the vocal combiue. Dr. O'Brien of La Salle was then Introduced and delivered an essay, appropriate to this season ot the year.

'Irish Times." It was verv interesting and touched on Ireland and its people from the early centuries up to the present day. Bro. Clarke then rendered some Irish ballads. Paul MeGulre, elocutionist, was next introduced. The entertainment cloned with Bro.

Conner of Christopher. There were many visiting brothers present. At the next meeting on March 23 the minor degree will be exemplified on manv candidates by Xlcholas riarkin of La Salle. On the first meeting in April B. Lambert wil have another fine programme arranged for the member's and their friends.

George Goodwin, Jeremiah O'Leary On the tirst meeting of every month there is a lecture or entertainment in this council and ali brothers are cordially iavited. The grand lodge of the Ancient Order of P'nited Workmen met in Rochester on Tuesday, March 6 and remained in session until the Friday following. It was the twenty seventh annual session and In many respecta as important as any yet held.

Practically there was no contest for the oillces and the grievances were few and of a mild form. The reports of the several grand officers show the order to be In a very nourishing condition. On December 31 last there were 27,000 members In York State.
