currying 118 pounds! il the horse, and he established this enviable reputation, by simply galloping In a winner by twelve lengths In the Lawrence Realization yesterday. To be sure, there were accidents which count for something, hut the ease with which the great colt won the race was enough to show that he could not have been beaten under any circumstances. He was favorite, of course, and so heavily played that his price dropped from 3 to 5 to 2 to 5. Every other horse in the race went back in the betting; but nearly everything was played. The Bouncer had an especially heavy play, but both ho and Half Time were in hard luck.

On the first break they collided. Half Time's Jockey was unseated and the colt ran away a mile, all of which, of course, militated against his chances. The Bouncer pulled up lame, and it Is feared that he will not be able to race again until late in the fall, If he races at all this season. The Bouncer and Filon d'Or got away la front when the flag fell, and raced head and head tor the flrst half mile. Then Ethelbert took command, under double wraps, and at the mile was half a length In front.

Without exaggeration, over one hundred yachts, large and small, were anchored between the two grassy points of land which mark the limits of the bay, or in the deeper water off shore. The Larchmont Club house was crowded from early morning till midnight, interest at first being centered in the regatta, and later in the ship Illumination and fireworks display. Altogether It was a typical Larchmont day, with good sport and good weather in abundance. Of the great fleet of yachts, no les3 than sixty four participated In the regatta. The breeze was fresh and constant, so a rattling contest occurred in every class.

The little fellows that the swell of a passing tug will toss about had quite as much fun as the great double stickers, with their bulging sails and deck full of seamen. No class suffered by comparison with another, and every boat finished hours before sundown. Hard windward work was scarce and that helped considerably. Tho first group of boats, the larger yachts, were sent away shortly after 11:30. The first leg of the course for this division was a broad reach and the boats broke out balloon Jibs or maintopmast staysails as they crossed the line.

The Ariel got over first, followed by the Vigilant, Navahoe, Atlantic and Colonia. A meeting of tho Jockey Club stewards was early start yesterday morning in order to get out of the way of the large fleet of yachts as 6emollng at Larchmont for the annual regatta. They left their moorings soon after 11 o'clock and with a good southwest breeze were soon hull down to the eastward.

Lonsdale, total, 41. AMERICANS WIN IN ENGLAND. At the International trap shooting tournament held under the auspices of the Hurllng ham Gun Club at Hurllngham, England, American wing shots competed with signal success. On the opening day, both events which made up the programme, were won by Americans who defeated all the crack shots of England, France, Russia and Italy. The first event as a miss and out sweepstakes, 5 entrance, handicap rises, with a 50 cup for the winner.

There were only two Americans entered. H. Yale Dolan of the Car taret Gun Club of Garden City, L. and C. H.

Robinson of California, who won most everything in sight a year ago at the same tournament. The scratch mark was 32 yards and while Robinson was placed at 32 Dolan escaped with a handicap of 30 yards. Robinson missed his fourth bird and was out. At the end of the seventeenth round Dolan, Brooke and Lauderdale were the only three of the original 57 entered in the race remaining. Tho two agreed then to divide the purse, 285, and then shoot off for the cup.

Brooke and Lauderdale both missed on the nineteenth round while Dolan killed and won the prize. With the cup and his share of the prize money, the American won about $725. The other event was also a miss and out affair, 5 entrance, all 30 yards. The entry list of 44 included not only Robinson and Dolan, but Walter W. Watrous and Gould Hoyt, of the Westminster Kennel Club of Babylon, as well.

Hoyt lost his very first bird and Robinson dropped out on the third rcund. Dolan let his seventh bird get away 10.. 13.. 14.. 15..

Magee, late of Louisville, occupied the box for the Quakers, and be pitched great ball, holding the Superbas down to four hits and one Hughes, on the other hand, appeared to have lost his cunning, and was hit hard and often. In fact, after the fifth inning; the game was too one sided to be interesting.

The Quakers in both games showed great Improvement over their previous games with Brooklyn, while the Superbas seem to have gone back. With the addition of Magee, to strengthen the pitching department, Philadelphia should be a stronger factor in the league race than heretofore. Brooklyn finishes up here to day and returns home to wind up the series of fourteen games with Philadelphia. Hanlon looks for a big brace in the games on the home grounds. Score: Played, won.
