Tho building of the Luzerne Club is open to the guests of the house. Lake Luzerne Is but a few minutes' drive from Hadleys Station. Golf links aro near by.

Frank M. Coleman Is the manager. The Stevens House and Annex at Lane Placid In the Adirondacks stands on the elevation that marks the dividing line between Lake Placid and Mirror Lake. Lake Placid is 330 yards distant toward the north and Mirror Lake is thirty yards toward the south. The hotel stands 200 feet above the neighboring country and 2,063 feet above tide water.

From the hotel one may see Mt. McKenzIe, Whiteface, Pitchoff, Long Pond and Porter, tho Gothics, Bain, Marcy, Cclden and Mc Intyre, Seward and Ampersand, all nobla peak3 of the Adirondack Mountains. The air is dry and ailed with balsmic ordors. Hay fever and mosquitoes cannot climb so high. Tho house is four stories high.

Piazzas thirteen feet wide extend on every side of tho building. On the main floor are the dinliiK Kom, recently enlarged, a private dining room, a parlor and the office. The guests' rooms are large and airy and are arranged singly and en suite. Every room command a view of one of the lakes or both. There is trout fishing near by and the hotel has a staff of experienced guides.

The hotel has also a golf link of eighteen holes. Tennis 13 also provided for. The table is well laden and. a 200 acre farm furnishes the vegetables. mflk, eggs and butter.

J. A. and J. A. Stevens are the proprietors and the address is Lake Placid, The Rulsseaumont, at Lake Placid, stands 2,000 feet above the level of the sea.

It Is quite beyond the reach of fogs or miasmatic exhalations. The road to the hotel winds through deep woods and through picturesque scenery. The hotel overlooks the twin lakes, Placid and Mirror, and Is 120 feet above the surface of Lake Placid, The outlook from the hotel Is sweeping and satisfying. Saranae Inn, Saranae Lake, Paul Smith's, Loon Lake, the Cascade Lakes, Adirondack Lodge, Wilmington Notch, North Elba and numerous other points; of interest are near enough to make a pleasant day's excursion. The ascent of Waiteface is another charming diversion tor the day.

The hotel Is sightly and well built. The cottages are enmm odious and substantial with open fireplaces. The charm of exteriors logs and rustic decorations at unique design is mingled with the ease of never lacking convenience. A livery, boats and guides, a telegraph office and trails through the woods to points of Interest ar all attractions. T.

The fishing in the neighborhood Jn the many lakes and streams within easy flstanfi of the house is good and a day's sport will bring ample payment, not only in genuine enjoyment, bnt also fn visible returns. Connected with the hotel are a number of guides, who will take full charge of the day's outing. The Lake Placid House Is. a modern house In every respect. Lake Pleasant, at the head Laka Pleasant and Saeondaga Lake, is a little hamlet in the southern part of HamlltDn County in the midst of the fish End game preserve cf the Adircradacsi SEcmn tains.

It i3 situated on a narrow slxip of Land between Lake Pleasant and Sacondaga Lake. The Lake Pleasant Inn and Sacondaga Lake Hotel are situated on Lake Pleasani, with a gradual rise of CO feet above the laies and 2,000 feet above tie sea. with, en interrupted view over mountains and lakes far twenty ftve or thirty miles En almost any directian. The Sagamore, on Long Late, stands on a bluff projecting from the east shoreof Long Lake, about three miles from the head and ten miles from Its outlet. Long Lake Is feet above the eea level, is 13 miles In length and varies from a few rods In length to 1 miles in breadth.

It Is one of the most beautiful lakes in the Adirondack' region. The rooms of the hotel are large and airy, are troll furnished and have electric bells. The din in groom is large and looks directly oat upon the lake. Open fireplaces give warmth when nercsary. All recreations are provided for, Including those essentially Adirondack amusements hunting, boating and fishing.

The sanitary conditions cf the hotel are excellent and the water supply comes from a spring'. There are no mosquitoes at the Sagamore. William P. Ingold. Is the manager.

The Kan a te nan, or place of many homes, on Long Lake in Hamilton County, is a lcrge and roomy hotel, containing twejity one rooms. It is but three minutes walk from the Sagamore Hotel. On the property are several fine open camps and there is excellent trout and bass fishing ia the Immediate vicinity. Adjoining the hotel is a pine grove and in front the land slopes down to a sand beach William T. Powers Is the proprietor.

The Indian Point House is locatejj on a point near the head of Chateaugay Lake commanding a fine view of lake and mjrtmtaia scenery. The mountains are from to 4,000 feet, while the lake is only thirty feet distance from the piazza. One ol the principal attractions for sportsmen at this house Is the fishing. The lake trout season lasts until September 15. After June 12 the ahad commence to run up the inlet after the (had fly.

This lasts for a week or ten days and then they go back to the deeps, where they ran be caught all summer. Deer arc plenty during the season and bear, while scarce, are yet to be had. The hotel accommodates forty guests and has a dally Tnntl and a steamer. The hotel farm and dairy famish the table. Mr.

M. Shutts, Merrill. Clinton County, is the proprietor. High up among the peats of the Adirondack range, on the shore of Clear Lake, Is situated the picturesque Adirondack Lodge, an immense log bunding with ample piaszas, high tower overlooking the tallest trees, open fireplaces, electric bells and comfortably furnished throughout. Pleasant parlors, a library of one thousand volumes and an attractive rustic amusement hall in a grove near the lodge afford facilities for evening amusement. The evening campfire makes a scpne of beauty not Boon forgotten. Tho Lodge is the nearest house to the summit of Mt. Marcy. accessible by means of an excellent trail.

Direct trails from the Lodge reach 2ft itclntyre. 3Ir Jo or 'The Bear." Indian Pass. Avalanche Pass, John Brown's Grave, Lake Colden, Laie Arnold, and South Meadow Basin. There is an efficient force of frnides employed ct the Lodge and camping supplies are famished.

Carriages from the Lot! meet guests at Lako Placid, the nearest railroad station, distant ten miles. The Hotel Eldred. at North Bangor. is near the Si. Lawrence Hiver, sod in a particularly pleasant par: of the Adirondack region.

The house is new and was built with special attention to the point ot oir and light. The ventilation Is perfect. The rooms are large and cicely furnished. The hotel farm supplies the milk, cream, eggs, poultry and vegetables. The Arrow. Head Inn, at Old Forge, stands on the tract of land known ss John Erowa'j tract, and has recently been leased by F. ADIRONDACKS. nager. ing hotels of the Adirondack region.

Itx. Ferriss has thoroughly remodeled the honae and equipped it with all modern conveniences. The Inn is supplied throughout with running spring water, which is sbcvn by analysis to be of the purest quality. Tie house has electric lights and "bells, hot ana ecld water baths and new sanitary plumbing. Amusements are provided for in the way of golf, tennis, croquet, sfctifTIeboard, boating, billiards, bowling, horseback riding, driving, base hall, dancing, mountain climbing and aalks tirough romantic and picturesque scenery.

The hunting andnehing are good. A "our horse drag leaves the hotel at stated intervals drives through the surrounding country. Scats may be procured at a moderate cost. Golf is provided for. At Elizabethtown in the Adirondacks is the Pine Grove Cottage, a select family resort.

The house is of modern construction and stands on a large farm, which supplies tlie table. Golf links are near and there are good camping facilities not far away. A large pine grove gives assurance of healthful air. Pitkin Co. are the proprietors.

The New Tehawus House is situated at Keene Valley, in the Adirondacks. at an altitude of 1,033 feet. Connected with the house are two cottages, one with ten sleeping rooms and one of ten rooms for winter. Fishing in the Ausable River and In John Brown's Brook is one of the staple amusements. A tennis court and bowling alloy are on the premises'.

Within speaking distance of the hotel is a church, a library of 1,300 volumes and a physician is in the house. The Tehawus House was named from the Indian name for Mount and means Cloud Splitter. The house has all improvements and the precautions against re are complete. George W. Egglefield is the proprietor.

The Adirondack House at Keene Valley has an elevation of 1,500 feet above the sea level and is located about midway cf the valley on an elevation to the west of Keene Valley hamlet and is the nearest hotel to Mount Marcy. The hotel has lately been rebuilt and now comprises a number cf public rooms, including a commodious dancing room, spacious and finely furnished. There are accommodations for 200 guests, the sanitary arrangements have been carefully provided for, broad piazzas, a sightly observatory, tennis courts and ball grounds furnish amusement. The house fronts toward the east. An orchestra furnishes music throughout the season.

Solomon Kelly is the manager. The Ausable Chasm is one of the wonder spots of nature, comparing with the. Yosem ite in the West and the Falls of Niagara iu the East. Indeed, the Ausable has often been called the Yosemite ln miniature. The length of tho chasm is two miies.

In width it is sometimes fifty feet, in others it is only ten feet. In depth it varies from 100 to 200 feet, while its course is tortuous in the extreme. Throughout its length it abounds in sharp turns, lateral fissures, immense amphithea ters and chambers. All of the scenery is in the extreme. In the chasm there are walks, stairways and bridges, constructed, from which the visitors can see all points of interest.

A portion of the trip may be made by boat, and while this portion of tho trip may be exciting, there is no danger. The Ausable Chasm property, containing 400 acres, has recently been purchased by tho Ausable Chasm Company and thousands of have been expended on needed Improvements in and about the chasm. From Table Rock, where the start of the boat ride Is made, through to the end, rickety staira have been replaced by iron railings, nenr stairways and perfectly safe platforms. The Hotel Ausable Chasm is situated on a plateau 500 feet above Lake Champlaln, commanding extended and grand views of Lake Champlaln and the Green Mountains on one side and of the Adirondack Mountains on the other. The hotel has open elevator, steam heat, electric lights, while the altitude insures an absence of mosquitoes and flies.

The air in the vicinity is bracing, dry and healthy, the roads are pood, the scenery picturesque and varied. Crarles W. Elok ford, the general manager, will send circulars on request. The Clawbonny at Keeseville is cne and a half miles from Keeseville, three miles from Ausable Chasm, one and one half miles from Lake Champlaln und easy of access to railroad accommodations. The house on an eminence and commands a magnificent view of the surrounding mountains, the highest of which is Whiteface.

Each of the guests' rooms has a fireplace. The rooms are high and well ventilated. The grounds are large and well kept, and are supplied with croquet grounds, tennis courts ant! delightful walks. E. A.

Jordan Is the proprietor. The Interlakcn House, at Augur Late. Keeseville, in the Adirondacks, on the banks of the lake, is in full sight of the Mountains Bald Face, Bigelow and Fordway. Black bass fishing in the adjoining lakes and trout fishing in the nearby streams is of the best. In the interest of sportsmen the house furnishes transportation free each alternate day to the surrounding lakes and streamo.

Thn house is now, has three stories with 250 feet of veranda and every room opens on the main halls. There are accommodations for 100 guests. C. B. White is the propiretor.

The Wayside Inn stands upon a plateau where two spurs of the Adirondacks, drawing together, leave a narrow valley through which the waters of the upper Hudson come rushing from their northern sources. The Ampersand accommodates 250 guests and (has all modern conveniences, open fire places, private bath rooms, electric bells, gas, elevator, steam heat and electric lights. Piazzas extend along the entire front and ends of the building. In the main ofQce is a large room with two large fire places, opening on one side into the dining room and on the other through a reception joom into the parlor.

There is a general Trading room, a ladies' writing room, a card a gentlemen's writing and reading room, smoking room and two billiard rooms, one for ladies and one for gentlemen. In the basement is a children's play room, a telegraph and post office, a barber shop, a guides' room, and a general store room for the convenience of campers. An annex especially desirable for young men adjoins the hotel. Cottage and tant life are a feature of the Ampersand. Tennis, music afternoon and evening, base ball and golf are some of the outdoor amusements.

The Ampersand Hutel Company will supply all information. St. Hubert's Inn, at Beedes, Essex County, is at the head of and 277 feet above the Keene Valley in Essex County. It is twenty four miles from Westport, on Lake Cham plain, and twenty four miles from Lake Placid. The inn stands on Keene Heights, a plateau of several hundred acres cleared, and entirely surrounded by mountain peaks from 3,000 to 5,000 feet in height, yet so elevated that the plateau does not give the Impression of being shut in.

The new St. Hubert's Inn, which stands on the site of the old Beede House, burned in 1S90. is a handsome hotel. With its eighteen cottages it accommodates 300 people. There is an eminent physician iu the house during the season and the house has its own telegraph and post office.

Electric bells, steam heat, bath rooms and open fireplaces are provided and carpets are tabooed, rugs only being used. The plumbing is all uew. Mr. Beede's farm in the valley supplies the table. A casino gives abundant opportunity for all Indoor amusements and tennl3 and music are provided.

Guests at St. Hubert's may become members of St. Hubert's Golf Club and thus have the privilege of playing on fine golf links. There is also a bicycle path between St. Hubert's and Keene Valley, three miles.

Orlando Beede Son are the proprietors nnd the post office address is Beetles, Essex County, The Utowana, formerly the Prospect House, on Blue Mountain Lake, will be open as usual this mmer, for the entertainment of guests. Blue Mountain Lake is a charming bit of water, with a setting ot hill and mountain and trees that makes It a delightful spot for the summer. Golfers will be interested in learning that Harry Vardon, the champion golfer, will play match games on the links from August 1 to August J. J. B.

White is the superintendent of the hotel. The Blue Mountain House has an altitude of 2,000 feet, with all that those figures imply in the way of air, temperature and scenery. The lake affords boating, bathing and fishing, while in the season the deer hunting in tho vicinity is exciting and profitable. Tyler M. Merwin is the proprietor.

The Windsor Hotel is located In the beautiful mountain resort of Elizabeth town, on the routes to Saranae Lake, the Racquette waters, and St. Regis Lakes, Ausable Chasm, Keene Valley, and Mt. Marcy, Schroon Lake, Lake Placid, John Brown's Grave, the Indian Pass and other Adirondack points. The hotel has broad double verandahs, 400 feet long each, affording ample opportunity for sitting out of doors. The Cobble Hill golf links are only a few rods from the Windsor.

Lawn tennis and croquet grounds, base ball, bowling alleys, an orchestra, a bicycle livery, and a half mile bicycle oval, a boat livery and a well stocked livery stable furnish the recreation. In the hotel are a telegraph, express and ticket office. Mall is received semi dally. The hotel farm supplies the table. Orlando Kellogg Son, the proprietors, have been engaged in the hotel business in Ellzabethtowa for over 25 years and feel perfectly competent from long experience to provide for all the wants and comfortB of summer visitors.

The Deer's Head Inn at Elizabethtown was formerly the Mansion House. It has been purchased by Charles A.
