The Northwest markets were strong and higher, which gave some confidence to the buying, but receipts were ngain liberal; 859 cars against 692 last year, and In the Southwest the receipts were 355,000 bushels, against 119.000 last year. The enthusiasm on the Pacific coast has waned to some extent.

The weather was favorable In the winter wheat states and prices were Influenced a little by this, as the outlook for the growing crop Is excellent. Foreign markets were Arm and a little higher, but as shown in the export business are still a little below an export parltv. Clearances' are excellent and have gained considerably of both wheat and flour this week. One factor in situation which has been overlooked is that some of the large winter wheat mills have recently become good sellers of flour, possibly owing to the winter wheat movement, and there is some talk of a possible strike in the Northwest. There were no Argentine exports for the week.

Argentine crop reports were favorable. The Commercial West of Minneapolis says: "There are 75.000.000 bushels of Northern wheat to be marketed, of which Minneapolis mills will require 50,000,000. leavinp 25.000,000 for other requirements." The Northwest Miller said the Minneapolis mills last week ground 1,870,000 bushels of wheat and will grind 1. 885. 00.0 bushels this week.

The flour output last week' was 431. 000 barrels, and will probably reach 435.900 barels this week. The Minneapolis rill Is la it week sold a greatly reduced quan of flour. These which disposed of their mil output were fortunate. Many fell considerably sho of doing that way.

There were cases where sales snowed a decrease of 50 per cent, compared with preceding weeks. The mills ar pretty generally fortified with an accumulation of orders, and in running upon these they are very busy. Wheat was very dull and very heavy in the afternoon, selling off to 1 cent from top prlccG of the day, closing at about the lowest. Bradstreet's exports were 5.997,'0n0 bushels. Export sales of 55 loads were reported, but.

not fully confirmed. There was a fairly active market. with prices unsettled and higjr, particulany on Chicago December, which showed an id vance of about 2c. per bushel from the cwest of yesterday. There were reports that charters had been made at Chi? for shipment out of all the stock corn there.

less than 70O.CO0 bushels, in public olevicors. while the weather was soft in 'he Souih west. There were reports of i conccntrater! long interest in December a.jaln. and shorts were rather nervous. Corn was quiet and lower in the afternoon, closing quiet but steady.

Bradstreet's exnorts were 153.000 bushels. Export sales of 10 leads were reported. Trade in oats was qe rt with the market about steady, showing very little feature. The firmness in enc'uraged buying to some extent, and there did not appear to be any considerable pressure on the market, notwithstanding the free movement of oats at the West. Oats were quiet in the afternoon, but about steady.

In provisions the market was moderately active "out very steady. Live hogs wore in smaller supply and higher, and confident predictions of small stocks of provisions had some effect. Provisions were quiet and lower in the afternoon, closing quiet. Uf.ST SIXTKENTH STRKKT. ast side.
