The Men who are Said to be "Slated" for Saratoga A Bitter Fight Between the Bival Leaders, and its Relations to the State Central Committee Local Considerations of Much More Interest than State Affaire Worth, Palmer, Henry and Butcher Against Jourdan and Dag gett A Very Pretty and Complicated Contest The Gossip of the Party Politicians. There appears to be more interest than usual manifested this year among the local Republican politicians in regard to the election of delegates to the State Convention. This Is owing in a very Urge degree to the bitter contest which Is going on among rival leaders of the party for appointments on the State Central Committee. The fight In this respect has seldom, if ever, been a fiercer one, and as the convention delegates seleot the committeemen from the three Congressional districts of the county, the candidates, who are leaders of the respective factions, and their followers, are doing their utmost to carry the forthcoming primaries for the election of delegates to the Assembly District Conventions, which are to make up the delegation to Saratoga.

The primaries will be held on the 2Gth InBt. and preparations for them are rapidly going forward. TEE BIVAM. Briefiy stated, this is a fight between Jour dan and Daggett on the one side, and Worth, Palmer, Dutcher and Henry on the other. The origin and present aspect of tho contest have been reported in detail in the Eaoui, Jourdan is Committeeman for the Second Congressional District, Daggett for the Third, and Crooke for the Fourth.

Jourdan and Daggett want to be reappointed. General Crooke does not. Commie sloner Worth wants the appointment in Crooke's place, and both he and his friends regard his success as a foregone conclusion. So viewing matters, they are at work to lay out Daggett, and possibly Jourdan. There to no doubt that the Palmer Henry force, have been considerably strengthened since the great hubbub raised by them over Jourdan and Daggett connection with the Senatorial apportionment business but the followers of the General and the ex Sher Iff do not appear willing to admit it, and claim to bo as strong as ever.

The assertion has been made by a close friend of Jourdan that he 1b not a candidate for reappointment. Others of his friends say that he is, and that he cannot afford to retire now, for the reason that if he does he will be placed in tho position of acknowledging the correctness of what hi. been saying against him and having It 0 was running away from them.
