JTlie ForOicomiiijr 'i'licalrical Season. KxtciiKivr. Improvements in tlie Park Theater Openings. The Brooklyn Tlienter is to open its Benson 18S5 80on Mondfty, 31st tlie attraction being Iho Kiralfys' elaborate speotacle, reconstructed and enlarged, Around the World." This brilliant bo ginning is prepared by Manager McC'onnell, to bo followed by a series of ontertaiiiments, introducing leading stars and combinations of considerably higher prominence and greater than are ordinarily brought before the Brooklyn public at Lhe outset it tlie theatrical year. Uliicial announcement of the plays and players who are to be viewed upon the stago of the Brooklyn during the forty weeks cohered by the season has not yet been made by tho management.

But it is finite beyond doubt that tlie repertoire will be found to bo uncommonly comprehensive, and that it will recommend itself to all passes of theatergoers by reason of its variety, Its attractiveness and its sterling merit. Among tho shining lights of tho dramatic profession who are to bo introduced to the Brooklyn public is Mr. Thomas V. lteone, tho tragedian, who is to como forth hero during the llrst month of the Bea on. Mr.

Keeno has within a few years taken a commanding positim among exponents of the legitimate drama, and it is expected that his forthcoming metropol ian engagement will secure to him the place so long held undisputed by tho lamented John McCuilough. Tho standard established by the managemont of tho Brooklyn at tho boginning of tho season is proposed to bo maintained to its close. Many now faces and now pieces will bo disclosed to view during its progress; American actors and actresses who have won European famo will bo horo visible, together with popular favorites and ambitious aspirants for public mid the season promises accordingly to prove as eventful in this respoct as it is certain to brilliant and satisfying artistically. Tho busy hands of artists and decorators havo boon for somo time employed on tho stage and in tho auditorium in getting ovorythiug in readiness for tho opening two weeks from to morrow. Tho frequoutora of tho Brooklyn will then find this favorito theater more beautiful In appearanco and mora complotoly equipped and appointed than ever before Manager William E.

Sinn is congratulating himself upon tho surprise he has in store for the patronB of tho Park Theater. Almost immediately upon the closing of the season in Juno last the liouse was taken possession of by a small army of decorators, who havo siuco been industriously engaged in transforming tho interior of tho theater to such an extent that when it Issues from under their hands It will hardly bo recognized by tho oldest habitue. Manager Sinn puts tho outlay for tho improvements now being effected In the theater at tho modest flguro of Ho is satisfied that, when tho finishing touches aro laid upon tho decorations, the Park will bo without a rival among tho theaters in tho metropolitan district. The work has been progressed quietly, and every precaution taken against intrusion on the part of tho public, It boing tho purpose of lho management to give no intimation of its intention to onhanco the attractiveness of the theater until such time as tho building was in readiness for public viowing. This will be in the courso of anolhor week.

Tho upper lobby now corresponds in elaborateness of dosign and eloganco of finish with the entrance to and tho main lobby of tho theater, which wero embellished last year. The material employed in the decoration is a combination of plaster and metal, applied bj' a patent procoss known as stippling. The design is ft bronze antique, Bet off with ornaments in blue and gold, with wainscoting of mahogany color and a dado of bronzo and maroon. The ceiling of tho lobby is also elegantly frescoed. The auditorium of tho theater will whon finished closely approach in appoaraneo that of tho Casino, save that the material employed in tho decorations Is much finer in quality.

Tho walls aro covorod with stippling work resombling hammered gold, effect to which is lent by a friozo of bluo and silvor dotted with ombossed roses in gold. Tho prosconium boxes aro furnished elaborately in panel work, in which bluo and gold, bronzo and gold and coppor and gold aro the dominant colors. Tho groundwork Of tho stippling on tho walls of the circles is green, set in pnnols, whilo that of tho front of tho balconies is carmine, Bet with gold figures. All tho plastering has beon removod from boncath tho galleries and a ceiling of closely matched boards substituted therefore, over which canvas has been stretched and frescoed to represent cream colored drapery, and damask curtains hung In bands. Tho woodwork in tho upper gallery has been paintod, tho seats maroon color with bluo beading, and tho partitions to imitate leather with beading of old gold.

'ew matting is to bo laid in tho uppor tier and tho dress circle is to bo recar peled, while tho lower door will bo si pplied with a now tapestry carpet having a small black and red figure. Tho gas linings throughout tho ontiro house have been connected by electric wires, and will hereaftor bo controlled from the stago. No change has been made in the upholstering nor in the stage, theso adjuncts having boon renewed and fully equipped las', season. Tho opening of the Park is down for Monday evening, August 31, when Polk's new play, called Mixed Pickles," will have Its lirst production on this stage. Messrs.

Hyde liehimm will open their Adams stroot Theater on Monday, 7, with a strong combination. A number of new features will distinguish the conduct of Hydo Bch Bau's Theater the coming season, and among the notable events to take place on this stage is the appearance of Mr. Edward llarrigan, late of liarrigau Hart, and tho production of one or more new plays from his pen. Numerous improvements have been mntle In the Leo avonue Academy during the Summer vacation, in tho way of altering, renovating and embellishing tho popular theater conducted by Berger Price. Tho house has been entirely ro esated in a manner to eulmneo the beauty of tho Interior and the comfort of patrons, and it has also been equipped with a cooling apparatus.

The academy season will begin tin Monday evening, tho opening piece being a now eomody entitled "Whoso Can It Be," presented by tho Carroll Brothers. Measrs. Sisson and Hilliard announce thnt during the coming season they will produce several new plays at their New Criterion Theater. This Tjill necessitate a partial return to the stock system, cf which Brooklyn was at one time no mean exponent. Tlie nuuingemont havo decided upon this course for two rettsons: llrst.

raiise there may be Borne difficulty experience. in securing a sufficient number of strictly first class, attractions, owing to the fuel that many of them havol been for a long time under contract to play at other theaters; and escond. because they have a number of plays which ore deemed strong and which can be produced in Brooklyn before discriminating and representative audiences on much easier terms than could possibly bo arranged in New York. The plan of running a company during certain weeks of the season has been successfully tried in other cities, notably San Francisco, and as there is very little dilllculty in getting together a first class organiza.
