JOHNSON. Third Vice President: Q. STANTON FLOYD JONES. Sec 1,475 The mills have not been large buyers, but on the other hand have been sellers of product, the large Northwest interest, In the absence of foreign demand, turning their atr tention to the home market, which naturally has taken the stamina out of the home market. The weather was much milder at the West and the snow covering has disappeared over a good portion of the winter wheat belt.

While this is not important with no cold weather in sight, it would be a serious condition with the development of a cold wave. Wheat was quiet but very firm in the afternoon on crop damage talk, although It will take growing weather to prove the damage. The close was steady at the advance, exporters taking 3S loads. The corn market was fairly steady all the. morning.

It eased off a little with wheat, but there was no particular selling pressure and there was some buying on the fact of the steadier cables following the recent cash demand for export. If the market is down to an export parity, even in a moderate way, it is quite an Important feature, as the winter's supply of corn has been ample, owing to the very small foreign and home demand. With any increase in either it creates a different situation. Corn was very firm In the afternoon with light offerings, closing very steady. Exporters took 2 loads.

There was a quiet, steady market in oats, with narrow change in price. The May delivery is believed to he so much a question of what the long interest will do with the shorts or whr.t the poor demand will do with the long interest that it is entirely removed from the ordinary market conditions. There has been further Increase In receipts this week, but demand is still small. Oats were firm in the afternoon but quiet. There was an active, excited trade in hog products at the opening and a sharp break in prices, after which there was a steadier, quieter market.

Live hogs were in large supply, 70.000 at three points, and with milder weather "West and prospects of less expensive feeding and larger movement with the better weather, there was quite general selling. Provisions were nervous and irregular late, closing at the lowest. FUTURE MARKETS AT NEW YORK. (Reported by L. G.

Garrison. James H. Post, COLORADO FTTEI, AtfD IBON. The official announcement is made that all the various departments of the Colorado Fuel and Iron Company will be in operation next autumn, including nail, wire and tin mills. The company will then have a capacity of about 600,000 tons of finished product a year.

A 500 ton furnace will also be started next April. All the completed departments of the company are now in full operation and have business enough on hand to keep them at work steadily throughout the year. All negotiations for the sale of the control of the company to the United States Steel Corporation have been broken off and the indications are that they will not be resumed. Only $4,000,000 of the debentures of the authorized issue of $10,000,000 of the same have so far been Issued. Of this amount the Gates faction ie credited with having: taken $2,000,000.

The proceeds of the bonds have been used for the construction of auxiliary plants. The remaining bonds were reserved for acauisltion of additional property. The Henrv Roth. Mar. Mar.
