Bkistow and Curtis's Concert came off last evening, at the Female Academy, which was well filled by the admirers of the art divine. The programme contained some ot the choicest produc tionsj of the day. The overture to II Barbiere di Sevkjlia" was played in masterly style, by Professors Curtis and Munger. The glee of the Opening Day," by the quaitotle company, waa sweetly sung, and loudly encored. Mr.

G. F. Bristow performed a soib on the violin, on the subject "Je auis le netit tambour," iu which he evinced a perfect acquaintance with that most difficult of al instruments. The song of Neapolitaine" introduced to ihe audience Miss Jatio A. Andrews.who, possessing a remarkably tine soprano voice, and a thorough musical education, bids fair to attain a hhj) position in the arduous profession she has selected.

Her whole soul eceins attuned to me'odyi which naturally infuses into her singing a resistless charm that tells most effectively with her hearers. In the "Neapolitaine" she received a rapturous encore, and complied wiih a most bewitching yet artless grace. She is handsome iu person, and was most becomingly attired in white muslin wearing a rose in her hair. The quar tette company then sung the Moonlight Greet ing," and Mr. Griswold favored the compauy with "Why do Snmmer Hoses fade which was followed by the "Per piacere alia Signora," by Miss Andrews und Mr.

Curtis, and it waB giyeu in a stjle of excellence we were not prepared for, and convinced us that the lady's furte lio in operatic music. Cunis and Hunger opened Part Second with a fantasia on two pianos. Miss Andrews gave "Per Questa Mr. Hi istow played a solo on the piano forte, "La Serenade and La belle charmingly. Griswold gave the Low backed Car;" Miss Andrews sung the Slar of Love" in her very best style.

The concert closed by Mr. Curtis singing "the Wat kins' Evening Party'' in ft style truly comic. This delightful concert was so well rendered that we hope it will be repeated at a very early day. Granger's Soirkb Musicals et John I. Sncdiker's magnificent establishment on the Jamaica road, was well attended, last night.

The concert consisted of some half dozen choice selections, including iho Overture to Muham with a bugle obligato splendidly performed by Mr. Fobs, and that clioicest of musical geme, the Finale to Rossini's Norma," every note of which cunlains a woild of expression. The execution of all the pieces exhibited talent and skill of a high order, and the award of the audience was of enthusiast c. approbation. The only fault we detected (if such may be deemed a lault) was the exhibition of timidity by somo of the principal performers in the opening pieces; but this wore away as the concert proceeded, and the closing was most triumphant for ihe reputation of tho band.

We should say a concert by tiiese skilful artists would bo acceptable to their fellow citizens of Brooklyn. The concert over, the dance followed, and continued until the gray of the morning." The corn, pany was composed mostly of representatives of our several county towns, although Brooklyn, we are slightly" pruu I to say, bore off the palm of beauty if not of numbers. We would not bo deemed invidious in saying this, for thero were undeniable stars of loveliness from our rural dis. tricls but, ladies, ihe undisguised homage rendered to two most beautiful and fascinating sielers from this fair city, conjoined with our profound sonso of duty to the capital of the State of Long Island," imperiously demand that wo should thus adjudge confessing freely, at the same time, that we can't beat you much. Tho supper was "oueof John I.

Sncdiker's" unci if that isn't enough said, we are at a loss for commendatory terms. We left the happy party about half past 3 A. and the prospect at that hour was, that the dancers, like "Old Virginny," would "never tire." Wo tender our thanks to Messrs. Granger (who on this occasion officiated to admiration as master of ceremonies) and Snedikcr for their assiduities in our behalf and we Bhall not sun forget our pleasant night at" Union Village." Female Academy. We see our friend Park Benjamin, is to give another of his racy original productions in the form of a "Poem on Fashion," at the Female Academy, this evening We promise any who may hear it, a feast of polished wit, and happy hits at the times.

The People vs. John Haumond and Others. LsDiurED for Rape. This case was set down foi trial to day, in the Court of oyer and terminer, but was postponed. Quite a concourse of people were in attendance, expecting it would proceed Beveral of them apparently deeply interested intbe result.

This was committed about the oth of last October, und was effected through aside window in the tiuilding which was insecure. The articles stulen insisted prineipally of Iocks of several varieties, a larie pait of which was found in the defendant's trunk, and in hardware stores in New York, where ho had disposed of them, and identified by Mr.

Crooker. For the defence, which was undertaken by Mr. Frank H. Uikeman, it was Contended that the window dull be pushed open by the wind, mid theie'ore, that the entrance being exposed, the offence amounted only to larceny. An alibi was also s.vorn to by ono or two witnesses, but in noiuVr case did the testimony amount to proof, and the points thu.J taken we overruled by the court.

The jury rendered a verdict to that effect, found tnc defendant gudty, and he was remanded fir sentence. John tiygiiisuii, the father ol lite last named defendant, was then called beOro the court.
