Caring in of a Sewer Three Men Burka About half past II o'clock thia morning a Bewer now constructing at the foot of Joralemon street) caved in and buried three men named John Burns lhe foreman, Barney McGivney, and Thomas Bor nioh. ThoMatter managed to crawl out somewhat the worse for his olothes, bat waa not muoh injured' The other two remained under ground for about an hour the workmen in the meantime doing all in their power towards extricating them from their perilous position. The men were in a sitting posture ana wore visible from the street, through an aper ture which had not been closed.

Mr. Baird, the contractor, ordered the other workmen to dig away the embankments at either side, whioh was exeouted with commendable promptness, although, in oonse quence of tne great depth some twelve feet it took quite a long time to do it. They at last reached the men and they were got out. Both men were oonsid erably bruised, and it is a wonder that they wore not crushed to death. Every precaution appears to have been taken to secure the sewer against caving in.

Boards were placed at the sides, and those wore strongly braced, but the quicksand proved of such weight and force as to press the sides in. The men were in the immediate vicinity of some of the braces, ana 10 mat oircumstance they owe their lives. The police were promptly on hand and kept the crowd back until the workmen had finished their labors, and the men were safely landed in the street. BuB9LA.nr. The second lecture of this course given at the Packer Institute by Dr. Bell, was given lest evening. The constitution of the lower grades of organic beings was conoluded, and the subject of "Organio Systems" to eommenco with tho circulation of the blood announoed for the noxt leoture.

The study of nature in any of its forms Is deeply interesting and useful, but the study of our own constitutions in relation to tho objects which surround ub, as applied to health, is, if possible, the most highly interesting and tho most practically useful natural study in whioh we oan engage. But it is not alone the subject which commends itself to our consideration, but the manner in whioh it Is treated. Dr. Bell's large experience and observation of the conditions of organic beings in various parts of the world, enable him to treat this subject with a clear uoss and praotical utility which both pleases and instructs and the beautiful paintings and diagrams whioh illustrate his remarks are a feature of the course whioh cannot fail to leave lasting impressions. Tho third laoturo of the course will be given at the same plaoe on Monday evening next, aa pr BBOOILYJT DAIL BA'ILB QmOB.
