8 )7 Atlantic street, on Monday last, a large crowd of po pie, impelled by eager enriosity lo hear what was to 3 said and to sco Price, congregated about tho Coroner's ofllce, nnd patiently waited the forthcomilntr of developments. The ofllce of Coroner Lynch was crowded to an unpleasant and disagreeable extent. Tho people wcroall eagerand anxious, and gazed upon the suspected Prico with that expression of dlstrus'. and condemnation so characteristic of euch cases. PRICE reached the Coroner's office abnnt nino o'clock tho time originally announced for the inquest, bat owing to tho tardiness of lnrora, and other oflloials, the investigation did not commence until some time after.

Price was accompanied by bia father, and a number of his friends. Ue looked care worn and anxions, and took bis seat in a further corner of the room, and partook of a slight breakfast brought in to him by ono of the officials. His counsel, L. S. Chatfleld, was in attendance, and conducted the examination on behalf of his client.

A large number of Price's irienda came in to see him, and sympathized with him. Tho time before the opening of the investigation was occupied by Price and his friends in earnest conversation. A SCENE. A scene, thnt caused quite a market sensation among the people present, took place a short time before the inquest began. Price was standing in the Coroner's private room, conversing with a number of bis friendB.

He was standing in a position not to be seen by any person outside unless they approached the door. Tho conversation wbb beltg hold in a low tone, and Price and his friends Becmcd wholly absorbed in it, when the outside door opened, and Mrs. Price, accompanied by a female friend entered the room. Sho was visibly agitated upon coming into the room where there were so many people, and passed quickly toward tho inner room, to escape the curious scrutiny or the persons assembled. She was about crossing the threshold of tho door leading to tho coroner'a private room, when she ralBed her eyes, and met those of her husband Price.

Then ensued a scene. A sickly palor overspread her countenance, she gave utterance lo an exclamation of surprise and terror, staggered back a few paces, and would have fallen had not her lady friend Bupportod her. At tho same time, Price retreated to the rurther end of tho room and took a scat, where he conld not be observed. Mrs. Price was led to a chair, where she sat trembling like an aspen and thoroughly unnerved.

A glass of water prevented her swoon.ng, Mr. Price was removed from the room, and Mrs. Prico 6afely Installed therein ont of sight. After some delay, caused by waiting for witnessos and jurors, Coroner Lynch announced that he was ready, and the investigation proceeded. The following ecntlemen were sworn in a3 jurors in the case: John W.

White, No. 125 Pacific street. Thomas McC'aflery, No. 851) Fulton street. William Parker, No.

1GT Fulton street. John Mason, No. 155 Fnlton street. M. H.

Amerman. No. 247 Fulton street. Thoe. Tigney, No.

22C Fulton street. A. S. Manna, No. lfll Fulton street.

Alter the iurois had become seated, a oucslion arose as to the cross examination of witnesses. Tne counsel for Price, Messrs. Chatfleld nnd DeWitt, held tne following conversation wita tne coroner: Mr. Chatfleld 1 claim that my client is entitled to croBs nxomine the witnesses, and ask thnt it may bo done In this case. Coroner Lvnch Anv witnesses vou mav have whose testimony bears on this case will lie examined.

I never have allowed any cross cxainiuation of witnesses. Mr. W. 1). Witt In the case of Cunningham, there were witnesses cross examini and aa it has been Ihe practice, I think we may be allowed in this case.

Croner Lynch I have no jurisdiction over other coro noci's. 1 never haveallowcd cross examination and I don't think I sliall in this case. I he case then proceeded and the first witness called was one of tho tenants of the houcc, wherein the tragedy took place. EVIDENCE OF WILLIAM JOnNSTON. William Johnston, of No.

It Is to the weak, feeble trad infirm body, struggling for increased vitality and nervous power, what oxygen is to tho atmospheric air. Pain, through tho influence of the READY RELIEF, is removed in a natural manner, and the diseased ailment, or accident that causes it at once cured. When Inflammation occurs, the blood becomes congestel and its natural circulation Interrupted, increased prcssuro on the takes place, the perceptive ficultles, located in the brain, at once experience a sense of pain. The First District Police Court. The difficulty between Captain Rhodes and John Dolmar, tho new Justice of the above Court, arising out of the latter gentleman's determination to remoTe the officers of the Forty third Precinct from his Court Room, is not yet adjusted. In consequence of this misunder standing, the prisoners from the Forty third were not taken before Justico Dclmar this morning, but were tried by Justice Cornwell. New Mission Chapel. Among the many improvements in our good city of Brooklyn we have neglected to say aught ot the very tasty and commodious Mission Chapel Pacific streol, near Smith.

The building is of brick, with brown stone trimmings, and altogether Is a very unique affair, after the stylo of tho early English Gothic. It has been erected by tho First Presbyterian Church, O. The building Is about completed, and, wo understand, will be dedicated during the holidays, of which due notice will doubtless be given. The Confidence Game. About 7 o'clock last evening, a well dressed young man called at No. 12 Columbia street, the residence of Mr. Aaron Fiolds, and gave to the servant a letter addressed James Gll inour, 72 High st.
