blank and other books purchased for office use, binding, blanks, printing, stationery, post Concerning DiToreee. From tho Now Haven Journal While in the Superior Court room a few days ago, we were spoken to by a gentleman who is officially attached to the court, on the subject of divorces. Ho said that it was lamentable that there wore so many cases of unhappy unions, and that it was greatly to be regretted that society had not yet devised some good plan by which confiding and unfortunate females could be protected from the behavior of men without principle. He said that in many of the cases where divorces were asked for, it was Bhown that the parties had been married but a short time, and that the ceremony had been too often performed to parry the punishment which the law would otherwise inflict upon their debauches who were only too willing to accede to prayers and propositions from their injured and dishonored victims, knowing that at any time a course of cruelty or neglect would compel them to ask for a divorce, and that such divorce would be granted for the poor woman's sake by the' courts. The Norwioh Bvlteltn publishes tte story of one of these wretohed affairs and proceeds to tell how a young man of Mystio was advised by the magistrate, a few months ago, to marry a young lady to whom he had been attentive, and own an otherwise fatherless ohild.

He did so, and then turned his back on his wife and tie waif, having since made no provision for either. In the meantime the mother and child returned to Bhode Island, Cat as he persistently refused any aid, Bhe promised him he should have tbe sole core and support port of the child. Last week, sure enough, she came with the babe, determined to leave it at his residence. This the grandmother denied, and the mother, after repeatedly and passionately kissing the babe, left i on the grass plot neat the house. After some time it.

Was taken in by a relative of the reputed father. Now what can that poor girl do? Plainly, her only resource must be to the Court, and what can the Court do for her, in her misery, except to separate her from the further shame of an asBooiation with her seducer, and. while ho will then be free to carry on his nepiious Mid black hearted purpose in other unsuspecting quarter, his unfortunate and too fond and faithful wife must live alone in her dishonor, with, perhaps, years of sorrow and remorse as her companions, An Uneiprcted bnt Joyful Meeting Romance of the War Fiom tto Ctacioruiti Timoa oJ 21st The war has furnished a large amount of romance founded on facts. The latest is related to us by a gentleman who was an eyewitness of the affair, and knows both parties. An Obion soldier named Frank Kuhn was taken prisoner in a skirmish in Louisiana between the forces af General Banks and Kirby Smith.

He remained a prisoner. An exchange was effected which landed him, with thousands of others, in Vicksburg. There he was unfortunately placed on the ill fated sieaner Sultana, and at the time of the explosion was knocked in the river, but uninjured. He aeizd upon a pice of drift wood which was floating by, and succeeded in reaching shore, where, weary and exhausted he fell HBleep. Alout three o'clock in the morning he was Rwakemed by Southerner, who, holding a pistol at his head, demanded his effects.

He then conveyed him back in the country Bome thirty Miles, and turned him over to a guerrilla band. Kuin being being a man of remarkable general conversational powers, found favor in. their sijht, and thoy even concluded to keep aim for their amusement. His name appeared among the drowned, as no intelligence could be learned of him after the ploioi. His wife, who has two ohildraa, livasin this oity, and, after making a strict inqairy concerning her husband, accepted the announcement of the newspapers mddouMd a suit of blacfc.

Being an olegant hand at needle, friends assisted in effecting a good living. On Monday morning last, about eight o'clock, while on her way up in the city, on the Third street lino of cars, a soldier from the Ohio and Mississippi Railway train got en th some car, at the intersection of Park street. The widowed wifo looked at the soldier and vice versa; it was a moment of terrible uncertainty. "Mary 1" he exclaimed; and "Oh Frank, Prank, Frank," was the rejoinder. A fainting fit was the result, but in a few moments coBUjiousness returned, and the lady black and soidier in blue were locked in each otter's arm.

The conclusion is thus stated: The guerilla? had held on to him for a time, and one day while the party were on the tramp they were ambushed by the "Yanks," and Kuhn reoeived a musket ball through the fleshy part of the thigh, while several of the band fared worse. Ho told his story to the officer commanding tho Federal troops, who had him oonveyed to Memphis, where he remained mnder medical treatment until a short time ago, when ho was duly mustered out and sent home. He is now happily living with his wife, who has discarded her weeds. Singular as the story appears, tho gentleman who related it to us vouches for its accuracy. list of Inspectors and Conraasen.
