Sarah S. Rainforth Bose, formerly active in church work in New Jersey and a member of St. Matthew's P. E. Church, died Thursday after a three-month illness in her home, 682 St.

John's Place. Born 50 years ago in New York City, she had been a resident of Brooklyn prior to moving to Rahway, N. where she lived for 22 years. While there, she was president of the Washington School Parent-Teachers Association. The family returned to Brooklyn about three years ago.

Funeral services will be conducted in the home Sunday the Rev. J. H. S. Putnam, rector of St.

Matthew's Church, where her husband, is vestryman and her son, is superintendent of "John" the Sunday School. Interment on Monday will be in Lutheran Cemetery. Also surviving are four brothers, George, John, James and Edward, and a sister, Elizabeth. Mrs. John Miller Mrs.

John Smeltzer Dies in 87th Year Retired Minister Served in Four Pastorates -Rites Tomorrow in Jersey The Rev. John Smeltzer, 86, retired minister who was ordained in the old Wyckoff Ave. Baptist Church and served as pastor of four other churches, died last night 1 in his home, 2604 Fillmore after a brief illness.

As a boy, Smeltzer sold papers at the Fulton Ferry. More than 60 years ago he and the girl who was the organist in the old Gesthemane Church were married. His widow, Elizabeth; four sons, five grandchildren and four gret gdanchildren survive. The sons are J. Stewart, Edgar Chester Royal W.

Born in Manhattan, Mr. Smeltzer attended the old Trinity School. Later he moved to Chappaqua, N. and became pastor of the Baptist Church there. Returning to Brooklyn, he became pastor successively of the Humboldt St.

Baptist Church and the Henry Ward Beecher Memorial in East New York. He also was a founder and served in the pulpit of the old Christian Church of Flatbush; formerly, on Canarsie but now Dorchester Rolane When the Smeltzers celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 28, 1936, they observed that married couples, to remain happy, should remember two words: "bear and forebear." Funeral services will be held tomorrow morning in Ramsey, N. J. Burial will be private Monday morning. Mrs.

Harry Hiller, Wife of Developer Mrs. Clara Zinn Hiller, wife of Harry Hiller, president of the Paramount Homes, a realty development company which operated in Flushing and Jamaica Estates sections of Queens and now developing East Williston, died yesterday after a brief illness in her home, 175 E. 52d St. Mrs. Hiller who was 40, was a lifelong resident of Brooklyn and active in charitable and social affairs.

Among the societies to which she belonged was the Knightly Friends Association. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her parents, Michael and Celia Zinn; three brothers, David vice president of the Lincoln Republican Club, Dr. Philip Zinn of Bayside and Dr. J. M.

Zinn of the Bronx; a sister, Mrs. Jane Bernstein; a son, Herbert, and a daughter, Phyllis. The Rev. Dr. Gilbert L.

Edith Oxley, widow of Capt. Alfred Oxley of 61 Pierrepont Brooklyn, died here yesterday while on vacation. She had been ill about a year. Mrs. Oxley was born in London, England, 61 years ago, but had resided in Brooklyn about 25 years.

Her late husband was a sea captain associated with the Lloyd's Insurance Company of London. In former days Mrs. Oxley had been active in club circles in the Heights section of Brooklyn. Funeral services will be conducted Monday morning in the Fairchild Chapel, 86 Lefferts Place. Brooklyn, and interment will be in Evergreens Cemetery, that borough.

Surviving are three sons, John Alfred J. and Herbert and a daughter, Evelyn. Mrs. G. L.

Bower Mrs. Minnie Weidner Bower, daughter of the late Frederick Weidner, who established the Weidner Printing and Publishing Company at 1109 DeKalb years ago, died Thursday in her home, 60 Clarkson Ave. Born 66 years ago, she had been a lifelong resident of Brooklyn. Her three brothers. Frederick.

Louis and William, who survive, inherited the business from their father. Also surviving are her husband. George L. Bower, and a daughter, Mrs. John Doyle.

O'Gara, who founded the general contracting firm of J. J. O'Gara Son, died suddenly on Thursday in his home, 1600 Albany Ave. He was 51 and a lifelong resident of Brooklyn. Mr.

O'Gara entered the contracting business, which he conducted from his home, while still a young man. He was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Vincent Ferrar R. C. Church where a requiem mass will be celebrated on Monday morning.

Graham, 76, who retired from the Fire Department 18 years ago after 32 years' service, died yesterday after a three-month illness in his home, 90-27 133d Ozone Park, Born in Ireland, Mr.

Graham was brought to Brooklyn when a boy. He joined the old Fire Department of the City of Brooklyn and after consolidation became a member of the city department. For 28 years he was a member of Engine Company on Liberty near Ashford Street. He was a member of the 20-Year Firemen's Association and the Holy Society of the R. C.

Church Name. Nativity, Ozone Park. Mr. Graham had been a resident of Ozone Park for eight years. For 25 years he had been a member of St.

Matthew's R. C. Church, Utica Ave. and Eastern Parkway, where a requiem mass will be celebrated Monday morning. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
