City of, Mtw Sorls, 4 a.3li Mineola, Dec. 19 According to a preliminary enrollment tabulation mde public by the Nassau County Board of Elections, enrolled Repub licans In Nassau County outnumber the enrolled Democrats by more than three to one.

The preliminary figures show that the Republicans gained 22,661 en rolled members in the election of Nov. 8, while the Democrats had gained 1,983 above their 1937 en rollment. Of the 155,000 voters who went to the polls in the last election 108,633 enrolled under the Republican standard, while 33,915 enrolled un der the Democratic emblem. In addition 505 voters enrolled as American Labor party supporters and 151 as Socialist party backers. The remainder handed in blank en rollment ballots or their enrollment was voided.

Differenee Explained It was believed that the difference between the number of persons who voted or enrolled and the total registration of 206,040, approxi mately 63,000, is due mainly to the practice in some non-personal registration districts of carrying over the names of voters who had moved away or were otherwise dis qualified. In 1937 the Democratic enrollment was 31.932 in Nassau County; the Republican, American Labor, 269, and Socialist, 97. All parties gained in the three towns of the county, while the Democrats showed a fallline off in Glen Cove and Long Beach. The Republicans lost adherents in Glen Cove but gained 71 in Long Beach. me Democratic enrollment fell in Long Beach from 4,229 to 3,660, a loss of 569.

although the Democrats carried tnat city in the last election, rne Socialisits in that city lost the five enrollments they had in 1937. The American Labor party in Long Beach gained four. At Glen Cove th; Democrats lost 242 votes, dropping from 1.672 in 1937 to 1,430, while the Republicans fell off from 3.216 In 1937 to 2,616 in 1938.
