BERNARD BRAFF, 82, DIES; HELPED FOUND I. L. G. W. U.

Army Calls More Boro, Queens Youths and became first president of the group which had its headquarters at the Pennsylvania Ave. branch. From 1910 to 1913 Mrs. MacCormack served as "camp mother," at Camp Richards, maintained by the Y. M.

C. A. at Arverne. Slie is survived by two sons, Edward C. and Robert S.

MacCormack, the only two brothers to be members of the Valor Legion of the Army and Navy; three sisters, Mrs. Jennie Adams of Freeport, Mrs. Agpes Brueneckle of Glendale, and Mrp. Lillian Schumacker of Bayonne, N. a brother, George Stott, and four grandchildren.

A. B. Coleman, Cosl Analyst, 73 Boro Native Served One Firm 27 Years Funeral services for Abraham B. Coleman, 73, of 397 E. 3d a cost analyst, who died yesterday at the Methodist Hospital after a long illness, will be held at 2:30 p.m.

tomorrow at the Harry T. Pyle Mor-tuary, 1925 Church Ave. Mr. Coleman had been cost analyst for the Corn Products Refining Company, 17 Battery Place. Manhattan, for 27 years.

A native of Brooklyn, he was graduated from Erasmus Hall Academy before it became Erasmus Hall High School. He also attended Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mary Coleman; a son, Kenneth Coleman, and a granddaughter, Miss Jane Coleman, both of West Palm Beach, Fla. to the United States 54 years ago.

Obtaining work as a presser In a cloak-making shop, he immediately became interested in union activities. Within six years he had mastered the English language well enough to represent the New v-k Operators and Cloak Makers' Union 1 at a convention, which organized the International Cloak Makers Union of merica, the first national attempt to organize women's garment workers. Eight years later, in 1900, the cloak makers organization became the I. L. G.

W. U. Mr. Braff lived Manhattan until 1917, when he moved to Brooklyn. He retired 15 years ago.

Bernard Braff of 118 Sutter one of the organizers of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union, who was closely associated With the late Samuel Gompers, former president of the American Federation of Labor, died yesterday of a heart ailment.

He was 82. Mr. Braff was the first general ecretary of the I. L. G.

W. U. and was one of 11 delegates who met in 1900 and formed the organization, which now has i membership of 250,000. He held the post of general secretary-treasurer until 1904 and during his first year in office ierved without pay, conducting the Union's business at his home. As an organizer and arbitrator, Mr.

Braff traveled all over the United States, representing the I. L. O. W. U.

and the A. F. of He was born in Austria and came William C. Good, Boro Bank Employe William C. Good, 79, of 668 Madison for the last 20 years night maintenance superintendent of the Kings County Trust Company Building at Boerum Place and Fulton died Tuesday night following a short illness.

He was a native of Brooklyn and is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Maude A. Thompson; a sister, Mrs. Maud A. Neale, former Republican co-leader of the 17th A.

and a grandson, Edward A. Thompson Jr. Mr. Good was a member of Cornerstone Lodge, F. A.

MacCormack. organizer of the first mothers' club in Brooklyn in 1896 and active in Y. M. C. A.

club work in Brooklyn and Long Island for more than half a century, died early today at her home, 159 South-side here, after a long Illness. She was 78 years of age. Born in Scotland, Mrs. MacCormack came to Brooklyn in 1860, where, six years later, she organized the first mothers' club in that borough at old Public School 65. In 1908 she founded the initial mothers' club affiliated with the Y.

M. c. A. August W. Barvels, Retired Mailman August W.

Barvels of 91 Cornelia St, a retired letter carrier, died yesterday at his home after a long illness of heart trouble. Mr. Barvels served for 32 years in old Station in Manhattan and retired in 1930 because of poor health. He was a native of Manhattan and lived in Brooklyn for the last 22 years. Surviving are his widow, Augusta F.

Barvels; a daughter, Mrs. Lydia Stott; three grandchildren, Walter Barvels and Roberta and Audrey Stott, and a brother, Jacob Barvels. Services will be held at 8 p.m. tomorrow at the home and burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery at 2 pjn. Saturday.

SO, 193S. jati-tii I At Man, 74, Dies of Burns After Match Fires Clothes Special to the Brooklyn Eagle Huntington, Jan. 9 Edward Dearing, 74, died late yesterday in Huntington Hospital of burns received when his clothing became ignited accidentally from a pad of matches in the living room of his home at 19 Lake St. Police believe that the elderly man may have dozed off while smoking.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Archie Brooks and Miss Margaret Dearing, and a son Edward Dearing. died yesterday at her home. She was born in Jersey City 38 years ago and lived in Brooklyn for many years. Surviving are hjer husband; three children, Caroline, Alfred and Elaine; her mother, Mrs.

Minnie Metz, and three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Rafferty, Mrs. Elsie Denehy and Mrs. Frieda Connolly. Services will be held at 8:30 p.m.
