1 1 1 1 1 1 1 Mrs. Mattie G. Perkins, 85; Noted Boro Concert Singer Mrs. Mattie Gregg Perkins, former Brooklyn concert singer, who was once known as the "second Jenny Lind," died Monday at her home, 43-05 215th Bayside. She was 85.

Mrs. Perkins was a member of an old Brooklyn family and resided for many years in Williamsburg, where she was born. Her father, the late Elias Gregg, was an engineer of note. Veteran Rites Tonight For William E. Coles Members of Comrade Post, 987, V.

F. will hold services tonight for former Deputy Fire Marshal William E. Coles, who died Tuesday at his home, 242 Sterling St. Commander Charles L. Cline and Chaplain Edward B.

White will be in charge of the services, which will be held at the home of Mr. Coles. The funeral will be held tomorrow, with a solemn mass of requiem at St. Francis of Assisi R. C.

Church. Toll of Storm in Spain Increases to 30 Dead Madrid, Jan. 23 (P)-Four persons were reported killed and 16 injured today in a head-on collision of two trains near Valladolid as the aftermath of a severe rain and wind storm. A fishing vessel was reported swamped near Tangier with a loss of three lives, bringing to 30 the death toll of storms in four days. Perkins traveled considerably herself until she fell and fractured her hip two years ago. She was the widow of Edward Clarence Perkins and is survived two daughters, Miss Madelon Perkins, concert and vaudeville singer, and Mrs. Edith I. Adams, both of Bayside, and five grandchildren. Services were held at the home last night.

Burial will be. in Cypress Hills Cemetery this afternoon. John M. Cahill, Former Plumber John M. Cahill of 421 Warren a lifelong resident of the old 10th Ward, died yesterday at his home.

He was formerly for 50 years in the plumbig business and was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Agnes R. C. Church for 60 years. He was the husband of the late Catherine Brady Cahill and is sur- vived by four children, John, Matthew, Mrs.

James Frye and Mrs. Joseph Mahon, and seven grandchildren. The funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday from the home, with a solemn mas sof requiem at St. Agnes Church.

Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery. William A. Ruff Special to the Brooklyn Eagle Far Rockaway, Jan. 23-Services were held today in St.

John's Church for William A. Ruff, 62, of 707 Bolton Road, Far Rockaway, who died Monday in St. Joseph's Hospital. The Rev. Francis G.

Urbano officiated. Burial was in Flushing Cemetery. Mr. Ruff was born in Mobile, and resided, in Far Rockaway for the past 18 years. He is survived by his widow, Mary; five daughters, Miss Billie Olve Ruff, Mrs.

Telma Jacobsen, Mrs. Wilma Atkins, Mrs. Eloise Noll and Mrs. Alice Rafferty, and two sisters, both of whom reside in Alabama. Mrs.

Mary Crawley Mrs. Mary Crawley of 168 Coffee one of the oldest residents of the Erie Basin section, where she had lived for the last 45 years, died yesterday at her home. She was 90 and was a native of Ireland Mrs. Crawley is survived by three children, Mary, Jennie and Harry, and seven grandchildren. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m.

23 -Maurizo 1 Rava, 62, colonial expert, former governor of Italian Somaliland and one of the founders of Fascism, died at his home in Rome today of a heart ailment. Herrlin, 69, Edison Co. Veteran Served Half Century, Retired Last Year John B. Herrlin of 27-19 Ditmars Boulevard, Long Island City, who retired in July last year after 50 years' service with Consolidated Edison Company, died yesterday at the Flower-Fifth Avenue Hospital, Manhattan, where he underwent an operation.
