a a a a a a a a a 3 Mrs. Ella Pashley, Navy Yard Helper Assisted Chaplains In Church Services Mrs. Ella M. Pashley, who for more than 30 years assisted the Protestant chaplains in conducting weekly services at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, died yesterday at her home. 629 MacDonough following a long illness.

Known as Mother Pashley during World War I she was State chairman of the Women's Christian Temperance Union committee for work among service men. Mrs. Pashley was president of Signal Union. W. C.

T. U. of Kings County, and a member of the board of managers the Brooklyn City Missions Wayside Home for Girls. formerly of Bridge St. A descendant of a pioneer family which settled in Southold in 1640.

she was the widow of George F. Pashley. Surviving are a son. Arthur and a daughter. Ella M.

Funeral services will be held at 8 o'clock tomorrow night at the W. C. Fisher Funeral Parlor. Bainbridge St. and Saratoga Ave.

Burial Monday will take place in Cypress Hills Cemetery. Gates Close Part Of Riverhead Road Riverhead. Aug. 21-Gates have been erected. closing off a considerable portion of the heavily traveled cross-island highway between this village and Westhampton, after issuance of all by the New York State War Council granting the army the right to restrict and police traffic using the thoroughfare.

The Riverhead Westhampton route is a country road, and the barriers have been constructed by the County Highway Department, which is billing the War Department for the cost. The stoutly built gates, which can be opened to permit the passage of two lines of vehicles, are near the tracks of the Long Island Railroad's Montauk division on the south and about one-fourth of a mile south of the Quogue Road junction on the north. Purdy Dies, A Pioneered Suffrage Cause many years in women 5. clubs in the borough. died yesterday at her home, 401 Clinton following a brief illness. She was 67 and un441 recently had lived in the Bay Ridge section. She was a past president of the Bay Ridge Delphians and a member of the Bay Ridge Day Nursery, the Woman's Auxiliary of Victory Memorial Hospital, the Bay Ridge Garden Club, the Theater Club of New and the City Federation of Women's Clubs.

For many years she was a member of Union Church of Bay Ridge. Mrs. Purdy was among the early workers for woman suffrage and marched in the first suffrage parade in New York City. She was born on Brooklyn Mrs. Willian: A active fo Weights, the former Margaret Earl, daughter of John and Sarah Pat-.

WAR BONDS AND SAVINGS STAMPS Albert Rathbone, Ex-Treasury Aide New York Bar Member For Past 53 Years Albert Rathbone, Assistant Secretary of the Treasury duding World War died yesterday at his Summer home in South Norwalk, Conn.

He was 75 and had been a member of the New York bar for 53 years. He was senior member of the law firm of Rathbone, Perry, Kelley Drye. 70 Broadway, Manhattan, and had devoted most of his time to corporate work and reorganizations of railroads and industrial companies. A native of Albany, Mr. Rathbone was educated at Albany Academy, Williams College and the Albany Law School (Union University), obtaining his LL.B degree in 1889.

In January, 1918, he entered the Treasury Department to work 011 loans to foreign governments under Secretary McAdoo and nine months later was made Assistant Secretary in charge of the Foreign Loan Bureau. In 1919. at the request of President Wilson, he went to Eu1'0p3 as financial adviser to the Peace Mission. Mr. Rathbone, whose home was at 101 E.

Egg Deal Nets $25 Fine and Jail Harry Willner. wholesale food dealer of 35-08 08 30th Astoria, was fined $25 and sentenced to five days in jail by Magistrate De Andrea in Flushing Magistrate's Court yesterday on a charge of violating OPA regulations dealing with the wholesale marketing of eggs. The complainant was InspectorHenry Drewes of the Department of Markets, who alleged Willner sold 30 dozen Grade A extra large eggs to Christopher Pangaliden, a retail storekeeper of 83-28 Northern Boulevard, Jackson Heights, for $15.60. The inspector said the eggs were sold at the rate of 52 cents a dozen.

who was the first custodian of the Municipal Building in Brooklyn, died yesterday at his home, 61 Somers St. Up to his retirement four years ago. Mr. Brothers was custodian of the Gates Ave. Court building for 14 years, A native of Ireland, he came here 52 years ago.

He was a former resident of the Hill section, and at one time was active in the 23d A.D. Democratic Club. He was a charter member of Long Island Council, Knights of Columbus, and a member of the Holy Name Society of the R. C. Church of Our Lady of Lourdes.

He leaves a sister. Beatrice Brothers, and two nieces, Sister Jean Thecla and Sister Grace Cecelia, both of the Order of the Sisters of St. Joseph. The funeral will be held Tuesday from his late home with a requiem mass at 10 a.m. at the R.

C. Church of Our Lady of Lourdes. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
