Schneider, Ex-Borough Clubwoman Summit, N. Jan. 11-Funeral services for Mrs. Laura Lake Schneider, who moved from Brooklyn, N. to Short Hills, N.

F. Hinman of St. John's Lutheran Church here will officiate. Burial will take place Monday morning in Green- Cemetery, Brooklyn. Mrs.

Schneider, first vice regent of New York Chapter, Daughters of the Union, and regent-elect of the chapter, died Friday night on way home from Brooklyn, where she had been attending a meeting of one of the organizations of which she was a member. She was honorary president and a founder of the Laurel Branch of the International Sunshine Society and a former member of a number of Brook- lyn clubs, and organizations, including the Chaminade Chiropean. Her husband, the late William Schneider, designer furniture and one-time member of the furniture manufacturing firm of F. Schneider Sons, Brooklyn, died in August, 1943. Before moving to Short Hills, Mrs.

Schneider made her home at 1819 Glenwood Road. Brooklyn. She was born in that borough, and is credited with having been the first infant to cross the Brooklyn Bridge following its opening in May, 1883. She was the daughter of Daniel and Mrs. Laura Lamb Lake and was a gifted pianist.

Her musical education was received at the National Conservatory of Music in New York. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Laura Intemann; a son, William. and a sister, Mrs. Lillian Heller.

Art Dealer, in Bathtub 4 Days After Stroke, Dies in Hospital Arrangements were being made today for the funeral of Jonce I. McGurk, dealer and writer on early American art, who died Thursday after suffering a stroke while taking a bath and lying helpless in a tub full of water for four days. According to the story told by friends, the art expert. who was 72. was too weak to rise from the tub.

Mr. McGurk, born in Cleveland and educated at Notre Dame, was an outstanding authority on the art of Gilbert Stuart and was reported to have placed more Stuart paintings than anyone else. He was sonal representative of Percy Rockefeller, art advisor to the late Andrew Mellon and appraised the Ringling Brothers art collection in Sarasota, Fla. He bought many famous paintings for American collectors in England and in 1925 he paid approximately $200,000 for one painting there. reported to have been a Reynolds.

Harry Gee, 73, Pioneer on I. R. T. Harry Gee, 73, the last surviving niember of the "Dirty Dozen," a group of 12 motormen who moved the first trains of the I. R.

T. on Oct. 12. 1904, died yesterday in his home, 265 Empire Boulevard. The work in those days was very grimy, which accounted for the name.

Mr. Gee represented the second of three generations of railroad men. His father, Charles F. Gee, who died in 1940, was with the old "Manhattan Division," and his son, Charles, is now a motorman with the I. R.

T. He was a native of New Jersey. Surviving are three sons, Joseph of New Jersey, George of Arizona and Charles of Brooklyn; two sisters. Mrs. Elizabeth Ballard of Ozone Park Mrs.

R. Covert Services Monday Mrs. Emma Van Pelt Covert of 121-01 95th Richmond Hill, died yesterday in Queens General Hospital as the result of injuries sustained about a week ago when she slipped and fell on the icy pavement. She was 58. Mrs.

Covert was born in Brooklyn. a member of an old Williamsburg family. She. is survived by her husband, Hawley R. Covert, and a son, Hawley Covert Jr.

Columbia Chaplain Reports on Work Columbia University's Earl Hall, which is, with St. Paul's Chapel, center of interfaith religious work at the University, was one of the busiest places on the campus ing the last academic year, according to the annual report of the Rev. Stephen F. Bayne chaplain of the University, to Acting President Frank D. Fackenthal.

Chaplain Bayne recently was elected Bishop Episcopal Diocese of Olympia (western Wash. plan ington) but has not yet announced whether he will leave Columbia to accept the position. Chaplain Bayne reported that 24.925 persons took part in various meetings in Earl Hall from Sept. 15 to May 15 of the last academic year, most of them attending specifically religious functions, sponsored by the chaplain or by one of the three religious counselors who serve Roman Catholic, Jewish and Protestant students. PRIEST TO BE NARRATOR FOR 'FAITH IN ACTION' "It's a Long Way From Brooklyn," dramatic narrative on the Third Commandment based on actual War Department records, will be presented on WMCA's "Faith in Action" broadcast tomorrow night.

The program features the Rev. Wilfrid Diamond as narrator, and concluding message by the Rev. Vincent Jeffers, assistant director of the Society for the Propagation of the Faith. The tri-faith series is presented co-operatively by the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine, Archdiocese of New York, the Board of Christian Education, Protestant Council of New York and the Jewish Education Committee. Churches to Mark 'Women's Sabbath' International Women's Sabbath will be observed tomorrow in honor of women throughout the world who are undertaking the task of postwar reconstruction and rehabilitation.
