David Morehouse, Ex-Banker, Dies Garden City Resident Was Former President Of East Brooklyn Bank Special to the Brooklyn Eagle Garden City, March 16-Funeral services for David Morehouse, former president of the East Brooklyn Savings Bank in that borough, who died yesterday at his home, 61 Kensington. Road, Nassau Boulevard, at the age of 81 after a long illness, will be held there tomorrow at 3 p.m.

Burial will be Monday in Greenfield Cemetery, Hempstead. Mr. Morehorse served as president of the bank from Feb. 14, 1921, until his retirement on June 30, 1937, after 53 years of service with that institution. in the old 5th Ward in Brooklyn, Borne Joined the bank As 8 junior clerk in 1884, and during the same year married Josephine S.

Mead of Brooklyn, who died about ten years ago. Before entering the banking field, Mr. Morehouse had been employed by A. B. Sands wholesale druggists, and for nine years with Powers Weightman, chemists.

OF OLD COLONIAL STOCK Mr. Morehouse became assistant treasurer of the bank in 1905, treasHis predecessord AS president WAS urer trustee in 1915. Eugene F. Barnes. For many years Mr.

Morehouse was a resident of the Bedford section in Brooklyn. Later he lived in Flatbush prior to coming here. He was a descendant of a family which settled at the mouth of the Connecticut River at Saybrook in 1675 His father was a veteran of the Mexican and Civil wars. Mr. Morehouse, was A member of the Cherry Valley and Midland Golf clubs and had won trophies in golf tournaments.

Survivors include a cousin, Wilmot L. Morehouse of Brooklyn. Charles E. Smith Charles E. Smith, former member of the common council of Washington, N.

and former commander of the Warren County (N. Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars, died yesterday in the Veterans Hospital in the Bronx. He was born 52 years ago in Brooklyn. While serving overseas Mr. Smith was severely wounded and spent many months in French hospitals.

Samuel Mundheim, Philanthropist Board Chairman Of Borough Razor Company Was 68 Samuel Mundheim, chairman of the board of the American Razor Corporation, 315 Jay one of the largest concerns in its field, and a prominent figure in Jewish philanthropic circles, died today in Doctor's Hospital, Manhattan. He was 68 and lived at 730 Park Manhattan. From 1924 until 1932 Mr. Mundheim also was president of the Stern Brothers Department Store in Manhattan. Born in Washington, D.

on Nov. 26, 1871, the son of Lewis and Fanny Mundheim, he received his early education there and then entered business. For a time he was president of the Samuel Mundheim Hat Company, and while engaged in that industry in 1906 organized the National Association of Hat Manufacturers, of which he was president for several years. SERVED IN PITTSBURGH In 1913 Mr. Mundheim joined the Kaufman Department Store in Pittsburgh, which he served as vice president and then president before leaving in 1924 to become president of Stern Brothers.

He was active in the Federation of Jewish Charities and a member of Temple Emanu-El in Manhattan. He also was a member of the Criterion Club and the Westmoreland Country Club. On Feb. 21, 1905, Mr. Mundheim married Stella E.

City Council Acts To Speed Tunnel Seeks Amendment To Save $2,000.000 Interest Charges The City Council voted yesterday 10 the State Legislature 10 amend the Public Authorities Law governing the New York City Tunnel Authority 50 AS to facilitate work on the Brooklyn-Battery tunnel. The Council acted on the request of Mayor LaGuardia and after Park Commissioner Moses explained that the amendment, making certain provisions for the Tunnel Authority as already apply to the Triborough Bridge Authority and other agencies, would permit the city to save 000. 000.000 interest charges. through short -term borrowing for the tunnel during the construction period.
