Bond Tone Firm A firm tone in investment quality bonds contrasted with irregularly lower prices for speculative and foreign dollar issues in opening trades today. A light Investment demand brought fractional gains in telephone company securities and other prime grade obligations, while low priced rails and industrials recorded losses to around Vi point.

Utilities held relatively steady. U. S. governments were inactive with bid prices holding around yes terday's closing levels. In the foreign group, Caadian issues eased as much as a point while others showed fractional declines.

The stock market turned stronger today as the short session progressed and after early Irregularity leading shares displayed gains ranging from one half to one and one half points from the low levels of the day. Most of these issues registered improvement as compared with the previous close. In the final half hour American Telephone was strong among the higher priced issues, showing a gain of about two points over yesterday. Plus signs were scattered over the main lkt and generally were of a fractional nature. Advances in coppers, steels, motors, rails and oils ranged from small fractions to a half point.

Chrysler, however, moved about a half point in the opposite direction. Doug los Aircraft gained approximately a point to feature the airplane section.
