Cotton Max Moskowitz, 69; Active in Charities Max Moskowitz. 69, retired drygoods merchant and active in Jewish religious and charitable work here for many years, died today in his home. 290 Montgomery after an illness of five weeks. Mr. Moskowitz was born in Hungary a and came to this country when a boy.

He was in bsiness in Grand St. for 30 years. retiring about 15 years ago. He was a member of the Brooklyn Jewish Center and an organizer of the Keap Street Synagogue. He was also one of the founders and a member of the of directors of the Crown Street Yeshiva.

He is survived by his widow, Esther Moskowitz; two daughters, Mrs. Lillian Lowenfeld and Mrs. Margaret M. Levy, and a son Dr. Irving L.

Moskowitz. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow from the home with interment in Mount Judah Cemetery. G. W.

Lindsay Is Dead at 73 Continued from Page 1 became vice chairman of the House Merchant Marine Committee and took an active interest in naval developments. He is survived by a brother, James W. Lindsay, and two sisters, Mrs. Louis Bruns of 180-12 Hillside Jamaica, and Mrs. Stephen A.

Rudd of 1116 Jefferson widow of Representative Rudd, who died two years ago. Mr. Lindsay never married. Services Friday Funeral services will be held in the home Friday evening. Interment will be in Evergreens Cemetery at 10 a.m.

Saturday, Mr. Lindsay was born at 44 Bushwick Place and while he was an infant his family moved to the house two doors away where he lived the rest of his life. The house of his birth is still standing, as is Public School 18, old Williamsburg landmark at Maujer near Leonard which he attended. His attendance there gave him the only formal education he received. Early in Politics As soon as he was old enough Mr.

Lindsay took an active interest in politics in the district, then the 16th Ward, as a Democrat. In 1889 he was appointed Deputy Coroner, retaining this position through his father's administration as Coroner, from 1892 to 1895. Mr. Lindsay also dealt in real estate, handling property which belonged to him or members of his family. In 1914 he was appointed a confidential investigator in the State Insurance Department, holding this position until his election to the Assembly in 1920.

Mr. Lindsay had been a member of the Elks and was a life member of the 13th A. D. Democratic Club, an honor voted to him after his retirement as district leader in 1935. H. Cotton, Noted Civil War Veteran Sole Remaining Member of Lincoln's Funeral Escort Ex-City Official Charles H. Cotton of 238 Willoughby a member of Winchester Post, G. A. R.

and one of the last surviving Civil War veterans, died yesterday at Mr. Cotton, who was 93 last August, was said to be the sole remaining meinber of Lincoln's funeral escort. For many years before the consolidation of Greater New York, Mr. Cotton was Elections Commissioner of the City of Brooklyn. Later, while the late Theodore Roosevelt was Governor, he served several terms in the State Assembly.

He retired many years ago after devoting most of his life to politics. Since last September, ill health had compelled Mr. Cotton to remain at home much of the time, but before that he had been active for his years, taking frequent walks and marching annually in the borough's Memorial Day parades, including the one last year. He read the newspapers and was keenly interested in current events. A native and lifelong resident of Brooklyn, Mr.

Cotton left for the Civil War as a drummer boy, and later became a soldier in the old 23d Regiment, with which he participated in the battle of Gettysburg. Mr. Cotton was the oldest member of the Veterans Association of the 23d Regiment, and was one of the two remaining members of the regiment who served with it during the Civil War. His only immediate survivor is a daughter, Miss Grace Corning Cotton. Tentative funeral arrangements include services tomorrow evening and burial in Green- Wood Cemetery.

Dominick Fittipaldi Floral Park, March 16-A requiem mass for Dominick Fittipaldi, 57, a trimmer in the shoe business, who died yesterday in his home, 48 Elizabeth will be offered at 10 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of Victory R. C. Church. Burial will be in Mt.

St. Mary's Cemetery, Flushing. Born Fittipaldi was a resident of this city for many years. He is survived by his widow, Michelina; three sons, John, Charles and Albert, and four daughters, Mrs. Margaret, Mrs.

Catalano, Ida Laraia Mrs. and Josephine Rose Fittipaldi. Obituaries EDMUND GILLEN of 333 Lincoln Road, a veteran of the World War, who served 77th Division, died suddenly on Monday. He was warehouse superintendent for A chocolate firm and was member of Columbus Council 126, K. C.

Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, FRANCIS M. HIGGINS of 572 Lafayette Ave. died Monday, He was born County Longford, Ireland, and resided Brooklyn most of his life. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Mary Black; two sons, James and Joseph, and three crandchildren.

The funeral will be held tomorrow with a solemn requiem mass 9:30 a.m. at the R. C. Church of the Nativity. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

JOHN WALSH, a retired police sergeant, died Monday in his home, 84-38 108th Richmond Hill. He was a born in Ireland and was in the Police Department for 33 years, retiring 14 years ago. He is survived by two daughters, Catherine and Edith; four sons, John, James, William and Thomas, and two sisters, Mrs. S. Heaney and Mrs.

J. Tierney. The funeral will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. with solemn requiem mass in the R. C.

Church for 60 Years Mrs. Cornelia Benson Chambers, wife of Jared J. Chambers, prominent borough civic worker, and a member of an old American family, died today in her home, 1111 Jefferson after an illness of 10 days of pneumonia. She was 81. Mrs.

Chambers was a lifelong restdent of Brooklyn and was one of the oldest members of the Greene Ave. Baptist Church, which she attended for 60 years. She was at one time a teacher in P. S. 24 in the old Brooklyn public school system and later for a number of years was a member of the local school board in the vicinity of her home.

She and Mr. Chambers celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1936. Active in Church Work Mrs. Chambers was born in Williamsburg. Oct.

25, 1856 and was active in church work up to the time she was taken ill. Her husband was for 46 years auditor of the East Brooklyn Savings Loan Associatian and has long been promiennt in the Society of Old Brooklynites and of the Boy Scouts of America. Chambers is survived by her husband; three daughters, Mrs. Clarence M. Davis, Mrs.

Joseph Dembrowski and Mrs. Gilbert Bigger, and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in a the funeral chapel B. J.
