well-known hipping man and prominent in social and charitable activities here, died today in the Battle Creek Sanitarium, Battle Creek, according to word received at the Moan Tow in Transportation Company, 17 Battery Place, Manhattan, of which he was secretary and treasurer. Mr. Moran was an active member Of the Montauk Club, the Emerald Association, the Roman Catholic Orphan Society of Brooklyn, the Anvil Chorus, St. Patrick's Society of Brooklyn and the Cathedral Club. Mr.

Moran had served as president of the New York Boat Owners' Association and also was a member of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, Washington Club, the Knighta of Columbus, the Catholic Club of New York, the Rudder Club, the Maritime Association of the Port of New York, the New York Tow- boat Exchange, and the Harbor Carriers of the port of New York. He formerly was active In the Manhasset Club, the Fo Hills Golf Club and the Lido Club. A native of Brooklyn, where he was born Feb. 23.

1879. Mr. Moran was a son of the late Michael and Margaret Moran. He began his business career in the Marine Department of the Baltimore Ohio Railroad and joined the Moran organization in 1904. He is survived by his widow.

Elizabeth Williams Moran, and his brother, Eugene F. Moran, who is chairman of the board of the Moran firm. Mr. Moran had lived for many years on the Park Slope, and in recent years lived at 1088 Park Manhattan. The funeral will be held Monday from the home of his brother-in-law, J.

Frank Belford. 323 Garfield Place, with a solemn mass of requiem at 11 a.m. in the R. C. Church of the Nativity, Classon Ave.

Frohman Rites Set for Monday Special to the Brooklyn Eagle noted horticulturist and treasurer of the International Floaer Show Committee for the last 25 years, died yesterday at his home on Searingtown Road near here, following a heart attack. He was 60. Mr.

Kottmiller won many prizes for his unusual designs in flower shows. was a member of Hor-tus, which presented the Gardens on Parade exposition at the World's Fair for two seasons. In the 1935 exhibit of the International Flower Show, Mr. Kottmiller designed a Chinese garden Methodist Hospital Gets Big Bequest Industrialist Wills Fund For Rhoades Foundation Special to the Brooklyn Eagle: Whit Plains, Dec. 27 The late Richard W.

Rhoades of Mount Vernon, founder and retired president of the R. W. Rhoades Metaline Company, Long Island City, left more than 145,000 to institutions connected with the Methodist Church under the terms of his will. It was filed for probate with Surrogate Charles D. Millard here yesterday.

Eleven relatives and friends also received individual bequests aggregating more than $66,000. The will gives all of Mr. Rhoades' real estate and the residuary estate of more than $10,000 to the Methodist Hospital of Brooklyn to establish "the Richard W. and Martha C. Rhoades Foundation" in memory of the testator and his late wife.

The following beneficiaries also were named; New York East Annual Conference of the Methodist Church, First Methodist Church, Jamaica, First Methodist Church, Mount Vernon, $5,000, Brooklyn and Long Island Church Society of the Methodist Church, Brooklyn, Board of Foreign Missions of the Methodist Church, $5,000, and Board of Home Missions and Church Extension of the Methodist Church, $5,000. Bequests of $5,000 each were made to the American Red Cross and Hampton Institute, Hampton, Va. Mrs. Harry Peyser Funeral Riles Held Funeral services for Mrs. Betty A.

Peyser, wife of Harry M. Peyser, chief estate tax attorney, and for many years active in charitable and community affairs, were held today at Union Temple, 17 Eastern Parkway. Interment followed in Washington Cemetery. Mrs. Peyser, who was widely known as a concert singer, died Tuesday in Long Island College Hospital after a long illness.

She was 45. Dr. Simon R. Cohen, rabbi emeritus of the temple, officiated during the services. He was assisted by Dr.

Sidney Tedesche, rabbi of the congregation. Among the many friends ar.d relatives who attended the services were officers of Union Temple, Traavier Tax Appraiser David F. Soden, Deputy State Controller Abraham L. Doris, former Motor Vehicle Commissioner Henry B. Cocheu, Circuit Court Judge Emanuel Gieenberg, Edward Devlin, associate attorney of the tax appraiser's office; Max Abelman, secretary to the president of the Jewish Hospital of Brooklyn, former State Senator William L.

Love, and Louis Wolff, chief clerk of the Children's Court. James F. Kehoe James Francis Kehoe, assistant foreman of delivery for the New York World Telegram, died Wednesday night at his home, 91-19 86th Woodhaven. He was 64. Mr.

Brennan, prominent attorney and brother of Supreme Court Justice Philip A.

Brennan, in the Queen of All Saints R. C. Church, Lafayett and Vanderbllt Aves. Mr. Brennan, who died Monday In St.

Peter's Hospital following a long illness, was 71. More than 200 persons, including 13 past exalted rulers, attended fraternal services sponsored by the Brooklyn Lodge, 22, B. P. O. held last night at the Falrchild Chapel, 86 Lefferts Place.

The Rev. Raymond Dundon, assistant pastor of the Queen of All Saints R. C. Church, was the celebrant at this morning's mass. Others who officiated were the Rev.

Joseph T. Lamb as deacon and the Rev. Charles Boyd as sub deacon. Mr. Brennan Is survived by his widow, Martha J.

Brennan; a son, Thomas J. Brennan Jr. of Hempstead: two brothers. Justice Brennan and Matthew F. Brennan, and three grandsons.

Interment was in the Holy Cross Cemetery. For many years Mr. Brennan had been actively identified with Brooklyn fraternal and communal life. He was a trustee of Brooklyn Lodge, a charter member and former commodore of the Bay Head Yacht Club and a member of the Society of Old Brooklynltes, the Crescent Athletic Club and Champion Council, Royal Arcanum. Mrs.

Turney, 90, Dies Following Fall Special to the Brooklyn Eagle: HemDstead, Dec. 27 Mrs. Frances Turney, 90, of 49 Pennsylvania a resident of this village for 16 years, died Wednesday night in Nassau Hospital, Mlneola, of injuries received a week ago from a fall downstairs In her home. She was the widow of Thomas J. Turney who died several years ago.

Despite her advanced age Mrs. Turney had remained active until the accident, taking daily walks from her residence to the village center. On her 90th birthday, last May 6, Mrs. Turney was interviewed by reporters and discussed incidents of the Civil War. She was a native of Paris, Ky, and lived there during the war.

Mrs. Turney made her home here with a daughter, Mrs. Emerson Strong. She also leaves two sons, James W. and Thomas both living In Illinois; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Riccardo Caimmi Balogna, Italy, Dec. 27 0J.B Riccardo Caimmi, 70, actor who had toured the principal stages of the world with the late Eleanors Duse, died yesterday. Cleary died Wednesday of a heart attack in the Jersey City Medical Center at the age of 67. He was stricken City while returning "to his home in Inter-laken, N. from a Christmas party at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Catherine Roberts, in Manhattan. Mr.

Cleary was born in Richmond, and came to New York as a child with his family. He attended St. Francis Xavier School and Columbia University and went to work for the Western Electric Company in the '90s. He retired in 1911. An organist, Mr.

Cleary founded one of the first boys' choirs in the city at St. Flnbar's R. C. Church in Brooklyn. He Is survived, besides his daughter, by his wife, Mrs.

Mary Cleary, and two sons, Francis X. Jr. and W. Douglas Cleary, director of public relations of the Hotel Commodore. Fred R.

Another design acclaimed was a Japanese garden in the 1931 show. Born in Germany, he studied horticulture in Paris and London ar.d then came to this country In 1913. He was the proprietor of two flower shops, one In the Hotel Roosevelt and the other In the RiU-Carlton Hotel. Manhattan. He also maintained a conservatory and a greenhouse near his home here.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary A. Kottmiller. Services ai be held at the Christ Church, Manhasset. at 2 p.m.

tomorrow. Albert J. Keene, 64, Jamaica Attorney Employed 35 Yean By Lawyer's Title Corp. Albert James Keene, an attorney, of 195 Weirfleld who was associated with the Jamaica office of the Lawyer's Title Corporation, died yesterday at his home after a brief illness. He was M.

Mr. Keene had been with the title concern for 35 years. Joining It on March 10, 1905, and was attached to the Brooklyn office before he went to the Jamaica office a few years ago. He was an expert title reader. A lifelong resident of Brooklyn, he was graduated from New Vork University Law School In 1900.

Surviving are his widow, Susan E. Keene; a daughter, Margaret Helen, and three sisters, Mrs. Lola Robinson, Mrs. Elizabeth Llndlsey and Mrs. Jennie C.

Greenwood. Services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow. Final Rites Held For Mrs. Tatum Special to the Brooklyn Eagle: Long Beach, Dec.

27 Funeral services were held in the People's Church here yesterday for Mrs. Edna A. Tatum, 48, founder of Long Beach Lodge, Order of Eastern Star; Its first matron and for many years district deputy for the order In Nassau County. Mrs. Tatum, who died In Long Beach Hospital on Tuesday, was former secretary to the Civil Service Commission of this city.

Surviving are her husband, Walter a son, Walter A. and a daughter, June Tatum. Burial was in Greenfield Cemetery, Hempstead. Woman, 60, on Crutches Killed Crossing Street Special to the Brooklyn Eagle: White Plains, Dec. 27 Mrs.

Mabel Crawford, 80, of 1055 Ha'lsey St, Brooklyn, was fatally injured by an automobile last night as she was crossing the street on crutches In front of the Presbyterian Rest, convalescent home at 69 N. Broadway, where she had been a patient. Capt. Hubert M. Cole, attached to the 99th Field Artillery at Edgewood Arsenal driver of the car, was paroled on a charge of homicide pending an inquest today.

He told police he did not see the woman until after the impact. Sir William Goodchild London, Dec. 27 (VP) Sir William Alfred Cecil Ooodchlld, assistant director of the food ministry since 1939, died today. He was 55 years old. Sir William entered the Scottish office of the British Civil Service In 1909, and was made its assistant secretary In 1926.

In 1936 he was made secretary of the Scottish Economic Committee and of the committee on the highlands end islands. He also served on Britain'! delegations to the World War reparations commission, and to the Hague conferences of 1929 and 1930. many noted flier attended service last night in Jersey City. The Rev. Dr.

Horace Ford Mar-tin, president of the New York Biblical Seminary, officiated. Among those present were Bert Acosta. Viola Gentry, Casey Jones, Capt. "Taps" later in St. John's Cemetery in Queens. The body was escorted from the Napolltano home by the soldiers at 9:30 a.m., and the flag-draped casket was borne in a hearse to the R. C. Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Union Ave.
