He was 76.

Mr. Mead lived in Scarsdale for 25 years and had a home in Waccabuc, N. home of the Mead family for many 143 His E. family Hartsdale now reHartsdale. Son of the late George Washington Mead and Sarah Frances Studwell Mead, Mr.

Mead was born in Brooklyn and attended Friends School and Adelphi Academy. He graduated from Yale University 1897, New York Law School in 1900, was admitted to the bar, and for ten years practiced law in Brooklyn. During this period he was instrumental in promoting better housing, in 1910 he designed a new type of two-family house, and a duplexes president and director of the Brooklyn Garden Apartments, he pioneered in the first garden house development in the city. In 1911. Mr.

Mead was elected vice president of the National City Bank of Brooklyn, of which his grandfather, John Jay Studwell, had been president. On the then merging of that bank with the Irving Trust Company in 1919, he became vice president of the Irving Trust Company. In 1922 he was elected president of the South Brooklyn vn Savings Bank. After twenty-seven years as president, he became chairman of the board of directors in 1949 and retired in 1950. Mr.

Mead was a past president of the New York State Bankers Association and at various times served on the executive council of the American Bankers Association, secretary of the Savings Bank Trust Company, and as secretary of the Institutional Securities Corporation. Mr. Mead took an active interest in many philanthropic institutions. He was a member of the executive committee and In Memoriam KENNY -JOHN P.
