ENJOYED GOOD SEASON Al McEvoy, elongated southpaw pitcher, who hurled Brooklyn to victory in the first game against the World under the mazdas at Ebbets Field last season, although a freshman, has a great campaign with the Holy Cross College nine this Spring. Al, a product of Brooklyn Prep, whom he tossed to the C.H.S.A.A. city title in 1945 and the Brooklyn laurels of the organization in 1946, won seven games without a loss. His victims were Brown and Boston College each twice, Amherst, Fort Devens and Harvard. He even pitched part of the exhibition game with the Boston Red Sox.

Al is spending the Summer with his parents at Belle Harbor and has developed into quite an angler. Surf casting the other day, he caught himself nine kingfish and two weak-fish. Betty Byrne and Jean Little have won scholarships to St. Joseph's College, Emmitsburg, Maryland, and Good Counsel College, White Plains, respectively. Betty, voted the girl most likely to succeed, an honor student in all subjects, was a valuable member of the Riding Club.

Miss Byrne, who will study medicine in college, was president of the Leo Honor Society, a member of S.S.L., editor of the Year Book and alumnae editor of the Folio, school paper. Miss Little was news editor of Folio, a Leo. Honor student and helped her class team win in the intramural basketball tourney. ROBINS FLYING HIGH Winning two games over the weekend, the Flatbush Robins moved into first place In the Brooklyn Division of the Kiwanls League with 11 victories against one defeat. At home, exclusive of the league games, the Robins have won 10 straight without a loss.

The home combats are played at Kings Field, Newkirk and New York Sunday and holiday mornings. The Robins had annexed 13 in a row when they ran afoul of the Cobras in league play. Since then John Schiavo's club has won eight consecutive games. On Friday morning at 10 o'clock on the home lot, the Robins will get a chance to avenge the lone reversal in 22 games when the Cobras are encountered in a non-league affair. On the same diamond Sunday morning, the Mercury A.
