Russia, however, the Bishop charged, though she agreed to the terms laid down at the various conferences, immediately following the cession of hostilities "went forth to secure territorial holdings and ruled over them with a mighty hand." Thus, he said, Soviet leaders drew the "curtain that split the world." Indorsing aid to "starving and suffering' peoples in all parts of the world," he emphasized: "We mtfst rely on the judg ment of our elder statesmen history will relate'thelr plendid performances. They have the welfare of the country and mankind at heart." Of the United Nations, the Bishop said it "appears to me to be one of the few wholesome results of the postwar' era. It is the only bulwark against abso lute chaos." Seen 3d World War Threat warning that if the "one world" ideal is not realized the menace of a third World War looms as a very real possibility, he pointed out that the prob lem of dealing with Russia "involves fitting in a totalitarian government with a democratic organ." "We must try and continue to try" to reach accord with Russia, he stressed, recognizing along the path to peace every valid claim put forth by that nation.

Urging a "recourse to God," Bishop Molloy predicted: "Justice will surely succeed eventually. He lauded Distj-ict Attorney Miles F. McDonald, guest of honor at the affair, as "a cap able, conscientious official and a loyal and faithful lover of mankind." U. S. Attorney General Tom C.

Clark, laying aside a prepared manuscript defining the President's loyalty program as it affects Federal employes, assured his listeners that Government officials are "on their toes and knosv what is going on today as well as last week," so far as subversive or potentially subversive activity is concerned. Recalling the landings of would-be saboteurs on Long Island and shores during the recent war he stated: "If we had more clubs like this (the Cathedral Club), we would need have no fear of tomorrow." Clark Cites Fear "There is fear," the Attorney General added, "because there is infiltrating into the United States a foreign Ideology an ideology which does not believe in the American way of life." He insisted that "any person who does not believe in our form of Government should go to the country to whose ideology he adheres," and promised: "We shall use all the means available within the statutes to see that those who do not be lieve in the American wav Of in her home. 932 President St She was lwrn in Brooklyn ancli lived in Park Slope for. more than 10 years.
