The 50-voice women's chorus produced some pleasing tonal effects, especially in the opening, "The Heavens Resound," by Beethoven, and a group of folk songs from the United States and Russia. The balance was also generally good, but there was a tendency on the part of the conductor to clip off the ends of phrases too abruptly, giving an effect of jerkiness.

In two of the folk songs, Harriett Hollmann and Edna Rich-ter Wishart sang the solos accurately and with appropriate simplicity. Illness also struck at this concert, for Thomas Hayward, tenor of the Metropolitan Opera, was supposed to have appeared as soloist, but was confined to bed with a throat spired writing, particularly in the choral sections which con frolics through her chores; Morgan gets the girl with the stitute the major portion of the work. situation from start to finish. The story has what is practically a new twist to the boy-meets-girl theme. Miss Wyman, a successful young New York business woman, goes weekending and enjoying a solo sail when her boat is upset by an amphibious underseas tank, manned by Dennis Morgan.

They meet a little more formally when Morgan helps her aboard his craft, but neither one looks on this opportunity to get acquainted with anything but downright annoyance. Miss Wyman is furious when she finds she can't get back on shore immediately, due to the tank's peculiar method of locomotion. Morgan is on a secret mission for the Navy, to explore the bottom of Long Island Sound, and Miss Wyman's presence menaces this important secrecy.
