OLENA DIES; FORMER HEAD OF MUNICIPAL CLUB Garden City, Dec. Douglas Olena, 63, Manhattan lawyer and chairman of the Civil Service Commission Nassau County since 1946, died last night of a heart attack his home, 57 Brompton Road, Garden City.

He was former president of the Municipal Club of Brooklyn. Mr. Olena, who was born Elizabeth, N. in 1886, was son of the late Theophilius Olena and Harriet Hyde Olena, and for many years before coming to Garden City lived Brooklyn. His grandfather, Theophilius Olena, banker and business man, was one-time president of the Board of Aldermen of the old City of Brooklyn.

Graduated From N. Y. U. After graduating from Boys High School in Brooklyn, Mr. Olena entered New York University, graduating in 1906.

year later he received his lawl degree from the New York Uni-. versity Law School. He started law practice in Manhattan in 1908 as a member of the firm of Merchant, Olena and Merchant. At his death, he was senior member of the firm, Merchant, Olena. Buck and Santomena, 165 Broodway.

He was married in Brooklyn in 1914 to the former Mildred MacDonald Armour, the late Rev. Dr. S. Parks Cadman officiating. They came to Garden City 25 years ago.

From 1923 until 1944 Mr. Olena was chairman of the Zoning Commission of Garden City, the statutes drawn up by this commission serving as a model for other municipalities throughout State. As vice president of the Nassau County: Revision Commission he helped draw up the first charter for Nassau County. He had long been active in Boy Scout work in Nassau County. Bank Trustee Mr.

Olena was a trustee of the Manhattan Savings Bank, Alfred Douglas Olena a post he had held since 1942, and was former vice president of the University Club of Brooklyn. He was past president of the University Club glee club and was a member of the National Republican Club. "He was elected president of the Municipal Club of Brooklyn in 1945. Since coming to Garden City he had been a member of the Cathedral of the Incarnation, of Garden City Lodge, 1083, F. A.

the Nassau County Bar Association and the New York Bar Association. Surviving, besides his wife, are a daughter, Mrs. James Wilkerson; a son, Arnold; a brother, Harold G. of Brooklyn, and a sister, Mrs. Ellen O.

Stevenson. Funeral services will be held at the Cathedral of the Incarnation at 8 p.m. Monday. Until shortly before the services the body will be at the Cronk Funeral Home, 1475 Franklin Garden City. Burial will be in Cypress Hills Cemetery.

Lt. I. R. Meyer, U. S.

Retired, Ex-Insurance Broker in Borough Lt. Ira Roy Meyer, U. S. retired, who for many years operated an insurance agency at 66 Court died Tuesday at his home in Miami Beach, where he had been in the real estate business for several years. Lieutenant Meyer, born and educated in Brooklyn, enlisted in the Navy in 1912 and participated in the Mexican landings in 1914.

He retired from the Navy in 1921. He was a member of the New York Commandery, Naval Mortimer Louis, Oil Firm Official Funeral services for Mortimer Louis, 51, manager of the administrative staff in the department of the Esso Standard Oil Company, will be held at 8:30 o'clock tonight the Fairchild Chapel, 951 Atlantic Avenue. Mr. Louis, who lived at 51 78th died Tuesday at the Methodist Hospital. He served in the Navy in World War I.

Mr. Louis was associated with Esso 33 years. He was a Mason and a director of the Bay Ridge Savings and Loan Association, 7511 5th Ave. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Olga Paulson Louis; two sons, Richard M.

and James; a brother, Percy, and a sister, Mrs. Edith Maujer. Alice Field Hale, Boro Librarian der of the United States; New York Chapter. Military Order of the World Wars; Jewish War Judea Protective Association' and the Navy Post, American Legion. Before leaving for Florida he lived at 2011 E.

Miss Hale was a graduate of Girls High School. She had been in the public library system for 25 years. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Scott Button of Englewood, N. and a niece, Cynthia Button of Schenectady, N.

W. Neubecker, 85, Trade Author Funeral services for William Neubecker, 85, former instructor in sheet metal work at the New York Trade School, 312 E. 67th Manhattan, and the author of 14 books covering the various angles of the trade, were held last night at his will be in Lutheran Cemetery home, 978 E. 17th St. Burial today.

Mr. Neubecker, who retired in 1939, died Tuesday. In early years he was foreman in Foerster's Sheet Metal Works, then the largest shop' of its kind in Manhattan. He was an instructor in the trade school for 45 years. Besides his 14 books on the sheet metal trade, copies of which have been placed in the New York Public Library, he was the author of textbooks used in the New York Trade School and wrote the sheet metal course for the American School of Correspondence.
