To Hold 3d Foreign Trade Forum Anglo-American economic re. lations and their effect on world trade will be the subject at the third of a series of foreign trade luncheon-forums to be held by the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce Thursday in the Towers Hotel. The discussion will be led by Dr. John M. Cassels, chief of the British Commonwealth branch of the Department of Commerce.

In announcing the meeting. the chamber said that few forces exercise the influence on world trade that the British Commonwealth of Nations does. Any violent economic among this group, the announce. ment pointed out, would have a definite and fundamental effeet on our foreign and domestic trade. Dr.

Cassels: has served as consultant to the Senate Small Business Committee and has held other important Government posts. Among the questions he will discuss are: What effect would the devaluation of the pound have on the British economic structure? What are the prospects of such an eventuality? Can the pound live in a world of devalued currencies? The lira and the franc already have been devalued. The franc particularly has world-wide Influence. How will this affect the pound sterling? Presiding at the forum will be Walter Roy Manny, chairman of the chamber's foreign trade committee. Weekly Papers Find Philosophy Items Popular Molwaukee, March 16 (U.P) -Small town daily and weekly newspapers still are concerned with everyday happenings even if it is the atomic age.

A glance through almost any small town daily or weekly is sure to turn up some sage advice or bit of philosophy. Elmer Byers, for instance. wrote recently in the Marion (Wis.) Advertiser "some brides with well-to-do papas can't seem to get through their noodies that they married for worse." Fashions come in for comment. The Burlington (Wis.) Standard noted "now that it isn't hard to buy nylon stockings in the cur. rent style makes it harder to see them." The Platteville (Wis.) Journal reported "every so often women's fashions give us a jolt, but a man's clothes go on from year to year with little change.

The change in men's trousers is exceptionally small this The De Pere (Wis.) JournalDemocrat observed "a man's conscience is more easily put to sleep than his child." Proof that women have sense of humor was offered by the Loyal (Wis.) Tribune. "They can look at the bloke with a bald head, bulbous nose and sagging 'corporation' and remember with generous toler. ance that he once actually looked like the answer to a maiden's prayer," a columnist wrote. Commie Button in Room Later, in a search of the furnished room where Pitching Pennies For Cigarettes Held To Be Gambling Pitching pennies for cigarettes is gambling, according to Magistrate Morris Rothenberg, who handed down a six page decision on the subject in Manhattan Municipal Term Court yesterday and ordered a Brooklyn man held for trial in Special Sessions.

Irving Shapiro, 34, of 1610 P. who runs a pitching concession at penny: Manhattan, maintained that his customers, by tossing pennies at red circles on a table, were playing a game of skill. The magistrate replied that while the game may be similar to horseshoe pitching, which involves skill, the circumstances showed the game involved a bet between the defendant and a customer. Penny-pitching, he added, might appear like innocent fun "at first blush." but added the game has been spreading rapidly and that youths "are tempted to fritter or gamble away their money."
