Baldwin, 61, a newspaperman for more than 40 vears and correspondent for the Standard News Association for a quarter of a century, died last night at Meadowbrook Hospital, East Meadow, after undergoing an operation.

Mr. Baldwin, who had been employed also by the Nassau Daily Review Star, Brooklyn Eagle and N. Y. Times, resided at 16 Crowell Hempstead. At the time of his death he was secretary and treasurer of the Nassau Agricultural Society.

Queens He was a member of several fraternal organizations, including the Masons and I. 0. 0. F. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; a son, Roland, a student at Syracuse University and of World War II; three brothers.

He was a native of Nova Scotia and lived Brooklyn many years. In the war with Spain he served on the U. S. S. Buffalo.

He was a former member of the United Spanish War Veterans. His wife. Mrs. Emily Gagnon, died several years ago. A son, Herbert, survives.

Corp. W. F. Ehrler Mass on Saturday Special services for Corp. Walter F.

Ehrler Jr. of 92-44 166th Jamaica, who was killed on Iwo Jima March 14. 1945, will be held at 8 p.m. tomorrow by; the Marine Corps Fathers at the Fairchild Chapel, 89-31 164th Jamaica. A solemn mass of requiem will be offered alat 9 a.m.

Saturday at the R. C. Church of the Presentation, Parsons Boulevard and 89th Jamaica. The Finnegan Caffrey Detachment of the Marine Corps League will. serve as honor guard at the chapel and will provide full military honors at the burial in Pinelawn National Cemetery.

Corporal Ehrler enlisted in the marines April 15. 1944, during his last term at Woodrow Wilson Vocational High School. In the invasion of Iwo Jima he served as gunner with the 28th Regiment, 5th Division. His (platoon was guarding the marines who raised the famous flag on Mount Surabachi when, after four days and nights under attack, without food, water or ammunition, Corporal Ehrler volunteered to go for supplies. He was killed by a Japanese sniper while engaged on this mission.

Marsland Services Held Freeport, April 15--The Rev. Herbert E. Marsland, 74, was buried in East Hampton yesterday following funeral services at the Chester A. Fulton Son Road. He was assistant Funeral Home, 49, W.

Merrick. of the Methodist Church here and died Monday at the home c.f his daughter, Mrs. Edith Hunt of 50 Lindenmere Drive, Merrick. Prior to serving at the local church he was for many years pastor of the East Meadow, Roosevelt and other Long Island churches. A native of Brooklyn, he graduated from Drew Teological Seminary, and, addition to serving in Long Island parishes, was in charge of several pastorates in New England and Pennsylvania.

He received his early education in P. S. 23 and Adelphi Academy in Brooklyn and the Centenary Collegiate School at Hackettstown, N. J. His wife, Isabelle Marsland; two daughters, Mrs.

Hunt and Mrs. Smith of West Palm Beach, a sister, Mrs. Cora Neely of New Jersey, and a brother, Eugene, of Linden, N. survive. Pvt.

Dr. James Newton Armstrong, 82, a retired Presby. terian minister, died here yesterday after a long illness. He had resided in Southampton for four years with his son, James N. Armthe paste strong Jr.

Documents taken from Magidoff's files, purporting to prove the alleged espionage, were turned over to Soviet authorities by the secretary, the Moscow account said. Magidoff acts as correspondent in Moscow for McGraw which publishes a number of scientific magazines. He also is correspondent for the British Exchange Telegraph Agency. It vas understood in London that Magidoff, a Russian born American, was scheduled to terminate, Moscow assignmonth. The secretary said the letters addressed to Magidoff asked for information on "underground air raid shelters -and whether they could be made proof against the radioactive effects of the atom bomb. Hails Medical Center Plan As Aid to Health of Boro An adequate health for the people of Brooklyn can be achieved for the first time in the borough's 300-year history if plans for the proposed medical center development are carried out, staff members of the Peck Memorial were told last night by Dr. Abraham M. Rabiner, co-chairman of the Medical Profession Division of the campaign to raise funds for the project. Dr. Rabiner pointed out that a well integrated plan calling for new buildings for the Long Island College of Medicine at a central location, of the nation of existing facilities for the prevention of illness and Worst, a trained nurse, was waiting at the airport and saw the giant airliner come down in flames.
