John J. Meade, Killed in Korea A solemn requiem mass for Lt. John J. Meade, first St. John's College casualty in the Korean war, will be offered at 8:15 a.m.

Lieutenant Meade, son of Patrick J. Meade of 1575 E. 15th was killed Aug. 16, three days before his 21st birthday, while serving with the Signal Corps of the 24th Division. He was a graduate of St.

Brendan's Parochial School and St. John's Preparatory School, and was a freshman in St.I John's College when he enlisted in 1948. Assigned to the Radio School Dix, N. transferred later to the National SecAgency, branch of Army Intelligence, 'and in July 1949 received his commission. Three months later he was serving in Korea.

He was manager of the freshman and varsity basketball teams at St. John's. In addition to his father, he is survived by two brothers, Garvey and Patrick J. Jr. John P.

Foley, 72 Utica, Nov. 18 (U.P.) P. Foley, 72, former choirmaster organist at St. Patrick's Cathedral, Manhattan, died here last night in a convalescent home. 19, 1950 27 William A. Ryan, 65, Attorney In Boro More Than 30 Years William A. Ryan, a practicing attorney for more than 30 years, who had long served as secretary to former Representative John J. Fitzgerald in Washington, died Friday. He was 65 and lived at 187 Hicks St.

Born in Brooklyn, Mr. Ryan was educated at St. John the Evangelist and St. Michael's Parochial Schools, St. James Academy and New York Law School.

During World War II he served as a Government appeal agent in the Selective Service system. For many years he maintained a law office on Court St. Mr. Ryan was a member of the Brooklyn Bar Association and a vice president of the 10th A. D.

Burial will be in Lodi, New York. Dr. Poten, who had been pastor of the Bay Ridge Church for the last 18 years, died Friday in the Methodist Hospital, at the age of 65. His home was at 368 Ovington Ave. He was pastor of the First Methodist Church, Astoria, before coming to Brooklyn.

Previously he had held pastorates in Stephany, and Rye, N. Y. He was a graduate of Columbia and Drew Universities, and obtained his Doctor of Philosophy degree from Yale University. Surviving are a son, William; a brother, daughter, Mrs. George; a Carol sister, Minnelli; Mrs.

Lena Denig, and six grandchildren. William A. Ryan der Ave. Jeffers Funeral Parlors, 426 Empire Boulevard. Burial will be in Mt.

Moriah Cemetery, New Jersey. A dress designer, Mr. Manevitz had been associated with the Beaumont Company, Manhattan, for many years. Surviving are his wife, Tillie; a son, Milton; a daughter, Mrs. Florence Gross, and four grandchildren.
