Green, President of 8,000,000 members of the American Federation of Labor, but just plain "Bill" in his hometown here, will be buried today among the gently rolling hills of east-central Ohio where he once dug coal. After attending funeral services for the 82-year-old labor leader who died at his home here Friday, 75 members of the A. F. L. executive council and other union leaders will return to Washington to name a new chief tomorrow.

"Simple services" were scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Grace Methodist Church by the Rev. John H. Shanley, Baptist minister and the Green family pastor, at the family's request. The labor leader's widow, Jennie Mobley Green, was not (U.P|expected to attend on account of illness.

The minister said he had "no title" for "a series of things" he wanted to say at services for the man, who in his youth had wanted to become a Baptist preacher himself. He said that aside from "some eulogy," his remarks would be on "basic Christian principles." Officials at the funeral home, where Green's body lay in state over the weekend, estimated some 5,000 persons filed slowly past the bronze casket before the funeral. They also estimated about $10,000 worth floral pieces lined the walls of three rooms, despite a family request to omit flowers. The family suggested instead that donations in Green's mem-1 ory be made to local chapters of the National Polio Foundation. Mass to Be Offered Wednesday For Corp.

EARL HERBST. President COMPLETELY AIR CONDITIONED State Dept. to Bid Ike Step Up Refugee Aid By MICHAEL J. O'NEILL Washington, Nov. 24 (U.P.) (State Department officials will urge the Eisenhower adminisstep up U.

S. aid (thousands of refugees fleeing from behind the Iron Curtain into western Europe, it was learned today. The Department already is spending $4,300,000 on resettlement program for escapees from the Communist world. But officials said still more should be done. More than 40,000 Communist victims who risked their lives for freedom are languishing in makeshift detention camps around Europe, with poor food and shelter and dwindling hopes for a new and better life.

State Department experts feel the United States not only should provide aid but take the lead in resettling them by lowering barriers to their migration to this country. Quill Invites Press To Strike Preview Michael J. Quill, head of the C.I.O. Transport Workers Union, invited the press to a preview of his strike plans today as he warned that the walkout set for Dec. 1 against nine privately owned bus lines still stands.

Issuing a joint statement with Matthew Guinan, president of Local 100, Quill said union leaders will continue negotiations right up until the deadline. The strike preview was to be held at Transport Hall, 153 W. 64th Manhattan. The nine companies SO far have refused the union's demand for a 40-hour work week. The strike would affect 000 riders in Manhattan, the Bronx, Queens and outlying sections of Brooklyn.

I Theodore Kheel, impartial umpire for the transit industry, has stated "the union has no legal right strike" before Jan. 1, following the expiration date of its no-strike contract. ASTORIA 6 Men Arrested In Gypsy Brawl A brawl which broke out during a gypsy christening in Astoria had resulted today in the arrest of six men. One hundred gypsies had gathered yesterday afternoon in the Astoria Casino, 40-20 19th Astoria, when the fracas started. The six arrested were found amid the shambles of broken chairs, tables, dishes and glassware.

They were Saul Costello, 43. Stephen Costello, 24, and John Costello, 69, all of Albany; Trefello Costello, 37, of 2148 Amsterdam and another Stephen Costello, 42, of 246 E. 110th both Manhattan, and George Yonko, 47, of 35 Sumner Ave. They were charged with felonious assault. Why Not.

Persuade Pop To Buy a Turksiedivy? Chicago, Nov. 24 (U.P.) Mary Angela Falcome, 11, and her brother, Santo John, 4, don't want a big Thanksgiving dinner-they just want Lambsiedivy. Lambsiedivy is a lamb their parents bought a month ago to fatten up for the Thanksgiving table. The children have made a pet of the animal and don't want him slaughtered. Department officials think the administration should provide for the admission of at least another 7,000 anti-Communist refugees to prove the Unittoled States is willing to carry its share of the problem, President elect Eisenhower and his Secretary of State, John Foster Dulles, are pected to be sympathetic to the idea because of their campaign emphasis on the need for encouraging dissension behind the Iron Curtain.

Authorities said word of the poor reception escapees have got has seeped back into Eastern Europe, discouraging other escape attempts and tending to support Red propaganda that life in the free world is no better than under Communism. Iron Curtain escapees are scattered in more than 20 camps in Germany, Austria, Italy, Greece and Turkey. The new U. S. program to better their conditions is just getting unIder way.
