Baunner of Brooklyn has leased apartments at the Hotel Wes-mont for the balance of October. EMPLOYES ASSOCIATION. Brooklynltes Prominent in Wall Street Clerks Organization. The Association of Employes of the Wall Street District is rapidly expanding until at the present time It has approximately 10,000 members all of whom are actively Identified with the financial district of New York. This association Is controlled by an executive committee composed of nine members, two ot which are Brooklyn men, Martin A.

O'Neill and Arthur Somers. Both of these men wera Instrumental in forming the organization. The other members of this committee are James L. Vail, chairman; James F. Lyons, secretary: Duncan MacGregor, Jobn F.

McKay. Charles A. Burbank, Joseph M. FlU8iininons and John M. Clark.

This association was formed last spring when bills were being drafted in Albany at the Instigation of the then Governor Sulzer, which were considered to be detrimental to the welfare of the employes of the Stock Exchange houses. One of the proposed drastic changes was the Incorporation of the Stock Exchange and another was tho rrorosed Increase of 2 cents per $100 pur value of the stock transfer tax. Beth of these bills were held by the employes of the vaious Stock Exchange houses to be detrimental to their welfare, aud with a view to protecting themselves this association was formed. The pressure it brought to bear after the organization had been completed was responsible in a large measure for the killing off ot these bills. Life as a Fine Art Club Entertains Many Guests.

Mrj. Louis D. Arata of 79 Rutland road gave a tea on Wednesday, October 21, at her residence, to tbe members of the Life as a Fine Art Club, of which Mildred Manly Easton is president. The entertainment consisted of a reading of "In a Balcony," by Browning, and Mrs. E.

A. Mclougall, Mrs- Lillian Mac-Candlcss and Mrs. Oscar Smith took part. This was followed by the reading of selections by Edwin Lelbfreed, Ph.D., from his own poems. Miss Dorothy Richie rendered a congratulatory poem to the club president, Mrs.

The Idea of the hour Is the debut that is a dance alone, not an afternoon reception followed by dancing In the evening, but a fashionable, large ball, at which Miss Rosebud makes her bow for an bour, then drops out of the receiving line altogether and has a thoroughly good modern time. Miss Anna Meurer and Miss Thyrza Spadone are two Brooklyn debutantes that are to be presented in this new way, and the announcements of the dances to be given for them are 1, rousing great Interest, Who will be bid den to these gayest of functions? Miss Anna Meurer's Debut. The dance that will formally present Miss Anna Meurer, who Is a sister of Miss Grace Meurer and the youngest of the three daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Meurer of 22t Lincoln place, is to be given at the Heights Casino on the even ing of Thursday, December 18.

Miss Thyrza Spadone' Debut. December 26 (Friday), the day after Christmas, is the date of the big dancing party that will present Miss Thyrza Spa done. This debut dance will also be at the Heights Casino. Miss Spadone Is the younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

Walter Wurren Spadone of 208 New York ave nue, and she Is a girl who is probably destined to be very popular in tbe social world. She Is a sister of the former Miss Male Spadone. Miss Christine Nichols' Debut. One ot this year's Manhattan debuts that is of special Interest to Brooklyn is that of Miss Christine Nichols, who Is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

George L. Nichols, and a niece of Mrs. Spencer Trask. This young girl is the grand-daughter ot the late George L. Nichols, whose home was at the southwest corner of Pierrepont and Hicks street, tbe French-looking mansion so familiar to old Brooklynltes.

George L. Nichols, the father, gon of the present George was a very prominent aud able man ot his day. was an intimate friend of Dr. Vau Dyke, the elder, long a great Brooklyn pastor, father of the present Dr. Henry J.

Van Dyke, now American min ister to the Netherlands, and of Dr. Storrs. For years he was one of the big figures of the New York Chamber of Commerce. Miss Katherine Wyman Porter's Debut.
