Reported Project to Keep Northern Pa cific Under Control of Northern Securities. Intimations came from high quarters to day that a plan to remove Northern Tacific stock from its prooent uncertain status is being considered. The plan is said to in volve the incorporation of a new Northern Securities Company which will offer Northern i'aciflc stockholders an exchange of So-curities bonds for Northern Pacillc stock oa a satisfactory basis. Tills basis would, it is said. Increase the value of Northern J'acille stock to a point beyond 100.

in this way, it Is asserted, the Northern Securities Company would without increasing its capual stock, retain conlrol of Northern Pacihc. It would be an easy matter, the alleged pro jectors point out, to handle the $4,000,000 of Securities stocks in such a way as to prevent any raid or drive against it. The plan as outlined would apparently enablo the Northern Securities Company to retain control of Northern Pacific without the necessity of continuous ownership. Tina was one of the main objects for which tao original Securities Company worked ho haiu. An outline of the plans as hero set forth was sent In writing to a Norlhcrn Securiti.

official to-day. The reply was: "We arc not discussing new plans now." NO MORE GRAIN RATE CUTS. Further Reductions Would Wipe Out the Differentials Trade Bodies Working for Settlement. Philadelphia, March 24 There will be no further cute in rates on ex-lake, grain from Buffalo to this city for export after Saturday, when those announced a few days ago by the Pennsylvania, the Philadelphia and the Lehigh Valley and the Baltimore and Ohio take effect, according to a traffic official of one of these roads. This last out has brought the rate down to a point whore a further reduction would wipe out the differential.

The matter is now entirely in tho hands of the trades bodies, whose efforts to maintain this differential against New York, the Philadelphia lines have been assisting. A delegation of fivo, headed by President Hager and Secretary Saunders of the Commercial Exchange, and including a member of each of the joint trades comniit-teees, wont to Baltimore lo-riay to hold a conference with the differential committee of the Chamber of Commerce of that city. Baltimore, March 24 The general committee of the Chamber of Commerce having in charge tho matter of differential rares on grain from Buffalo to the various Atlantic sen board ports will meet, the committee from Philadelphia In the Royal Arcanum HufldinR this afternooon. A formal discussion of rates will probably be held, the result of which will be presented to a central body, composed of committees representing trades bodies of New York, Boston, Philadelphia and Baltimore. Neither member of the Baltimore committee would discuss the matter to-day.

IMPROVED COKE TRADE. Increased Demand Only Held in Check by Car Shortage. Scottdale, March 24 -The coke traile is growing stronger with each week and with the constantly Increasing demand the largeness of tho trade Is simply a question of the abllily of the railroads to move the product of the ovens. While the car supply was somewhat better last week, allowing an increased shipment of over tons, still the production was over IS, 000 tons in cxcors of shipments. Operations nt several plants were Increased slightly last week and 670 ovens were added to the active list.

Keports from the different points tn the region indicate that several agents nf the United Mine Workers are still at work, but it Is understood Ihat they will be callpd home at an farly date on account of the difficulties encountered in the attempt to organize the coke workers.
