Cemetery. Cemetery. Vital notices accepted 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for publication the some day; as late as 10 p.m.

Saturday night for publication Sunday. Mrs. L. B. Malsin, Founder Of Lane Bryant Stores, 72 Mrs.

Lane Bryant Malsin, 72, who, at the turn of the century founded the ladies wear business which is known today as Lane Bryant, with 25 retail shops throughout the country, in addition to a large mailorder plant, died last night of a heart attack at her home, 1056 5th Manhattan. In Manhattan the 10. story building of Lane Bryant is at 5th Ave. 40th St. The Brooklyn store is at Fulton and Smith Sts.

The latter was opened to the public last November. Before Mrs. Malsin, the former Lena Himmelstein, a native of Lithuania, started the business which was to develop into a vast retail chain for women's apparel, she made her living as a lingerie seamstress. Wed to Salesman When 20 years of age she was married to David Bryant, a Russian jewelry salesman. He died when the couple's son, Raphael, was a few months old.

Pawning practically all her possessions, the young woman purchased a sewing machine and started again to make lingerie. Six years later she opened her first store. Misspelled Name She took on the name "Lane" Bryant, she often recalled, by inadvertently writing the name Lane instead of Lena when she took out her first bank account. She said she was too embarrassed to correct the mistake, and she was known as Lane Bryant thereafter. Started Partnership In 1909 the young widow married again to Albert Malsin, an engineer.

Together they started a long partnership in the manufacture of women's wear, Mrs. Malsin concentrating on the designing of maternity apparel. In the meantime, Mr. Malsin started the practice of retailing the maternity garments by mail. died in 1923.

At that time the Lane Bryant enterprises were grossing $5,000,000 a year. Since that time the business has grown extensively, and four years ago, when the elderly widow participated in ceremonies to mark the modernization of the Lane Bryant Store in Manhattan, the nual gross business was 000,000. Aided War Refugees After World War II the stores in the Lane Bryant system served as receiving tions for tons of clothing collected for the needy in devastated areas of Europe. Mrs. Malsin retired from active business several years ago but held the title of vice president of the company at her death.

Surviving are three sons, Raphael, president of Lane Bryant, Theodore, secretary of the concern, and Arthur; a daughter, Mrs. Helen Palley, and 12 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow at the Free Synagogue, 30 W. 68th Manhattan.
