Francis G. Cutchan, formerly of 343 40th was a member of the air force. He was killed on his over Germany on Oct. 13, 1944. he Before entering student military service, was a at Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute.

Aug. 5. Police Capt. Thomas McGowan, former acting chief of the Police Department of this city, died of a heart ailment yesterday Long Beach Hospital. He was 58 and lived at 758 Lincoln Boulevard.

He was a member of the department for 25 years and was appointed acting chief in 1940. He held that position until last January. Born in Limerick. Ireland. Captain McGowan was a memher of the Irish Constabulary for four years.

During World War I he was a sergeant with a U. S. anti-aircraft artillery unit. Mrs. Bernard M.

He killed in action while leading his outfit in the Hurtgen Forest on Dec. 10, 1944, after having won the Silver Star for Michael E. Clavin Post 1408, American Legion, is named after him. Dr. A.

C. Bonaschi, Ex- School Official Funeral services were being arranged today for Dr. Alberto C. Bonaschi, former vice president of the Board of Education and at one time a member of the Board of Higher Education, who died Tuesday in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. He was 79 and resided at 15 Pell City Island, the Bronx.

Dr. Bonaschi had gone to Nova Scotia several months ago with his wife, the former Minnie Vivian Kopf, because of ill health. He was executive secretary of the Italian Chamber of Commerce of New York for many years and had represented the chamber at commercial congresses all over the world. Born in Bergamo, Italy, he received his education in that country and came here in 1898. He served on the Board of Education from 1935 to 1943 and during his tenure advocated many projects of liberal nature.

Wills $1,000,000 For Free Loans To N.Y.U. Students The late Josephine A. Schwed, former buyer for Oppenheim Collins has willed the entire residuary her estate, valued at $1,000.000, to New York University Tor establishment of a fund to give needy and deserving students non-interest loans, regardless of sex, color or creed. Her will, filed in Manhattan Surrogate's Court yesterday, specifically stipulates that the fund be called the Emil H. and Josephine A.

He retired from the postal 15 years ago after long service as a letter carrier, and was a member of Holy Name Society of St. Athanasius C. Church. Surviving are his widow, Helen: three other sons. John Thomas F.
