An oratorio society, composed of five hundred voices, and a full orchestra of sixty-five pieces will be organized. Amateur opera and dramatic companies will render various works during the season, in which the pupils of the several departments will bo placed prominently before the public. These meetings, also, will be a social feature of the institution. William Pitt Rivers, principal of the Brooklyn Conservatory of Arts, and proprietor of the Knapp Mansion, Bedford avenue and Ross street, will give his personal attention to the Instruction of dancing and grace culture. Ho will be assisted br efficient teachers under his Immediate supervision, and will Include in his department dramatic training, coaching private theatricals, society, classic, stage and esthetic dancing, and the preparing and producing of carnival operettas, etc.

Mr. Rivers enjoys a welVmerlted reputation for originality and fertility of conception, and his skill as a teacher and director places him high In his profession. Edwin Johnson will have complete charge of the vocal department in the Brooklyn Conservatory of Arts, at the Knapp Mansion, and will personally promote the interests of voice production. Mr. Johnson, as a teacher, needs no commendation, his many pupils holding prominent positions both on the concert stage, in church choir, and in social circles.

He has a rich, resonant and sympathetic voice. His social and professional connection with the leading operatic societies, the Allied Arts Association, and Merry Opera Company, is a sufficient guarantee of his ability and standing. Irwin Eveleth Hassell. a piano virtuoso of prominence, has been engaged to conduct the piano department of the Brooklyn Conservatory of Arts at the Knapp Mansion. Mr.

Hassell's reputation as a teacher and soloist has been acknowledged by both the public and press. He studied five years In Berlin under Heln-rich-Bath and Xaver Scharwenka. He also studied with Hugo Mansfeldt, in San Francisco, and is a graduate of tho King Conservatory of Music, San Jose, California. Henry Freeman has assumed control of all brass Instrumental instruction in the Brooklyn Conservatory of Arts. Mr.

Freeman Is a rornet soloist of note, having appeared in both Europe and America as an artist of unquestionable ability. He was formerly soloist for tho British Grenadier Guard Band, the Alexandra Palace Military and Orchestral Bands, London, Eng. He was last summer at the Long Beach Hotel during tho summer season.
