Jamaica Dpot Agent Snatched Man From Under the Wheels of Incoming Train.

Charles Scully, the well-known station agent at the Jamaica depot the Long Island Railroad, to-day added another rescue to his credit, for without his timely aid at 9 o'clock this morning, a well-dressed traveler would have in all probability been severely injured, if not killed. The train from Brooklyn, connecting with the Freeport train, was just running into the station when a number of passengers crossed from one track to the other. All had cleared the tracks except one man. who seemed not to note the train's approach, in spite of the whistle sounded by the engineer and the ehouts of Station Agents Davidson and Scully. He was right In the center of the tracks, with the train a few feet away.

The next instant he would have been struck. But Charlie Scully, who had previously yelled a note of warning, rushed directly in front of the train, grabbed the rotund figure of the man around the waist, and carried him to the other side just as the train whizzed into the station. All who. saw it agree that this act ot the station master was the only thing which saved the man. Scully received the thanks of the man after lie realized his danger, and went about his work.

Tho name ot the man could not be ascertained. This is but one of the many rescues which Scully and his companions perform each day. AMERICAN PICTURE SOLD. be cast befc August 3. LONDON CHEERS BLUEJACKETS.

Twelve hunndred of them marched through the principal thoroughfares, and as they swung along the route with six guns rattling behind, the record crowds that lined the streets greeted them with unbounded enthusiasm. The decorations along the line of march were on a lavish scale, and the triumphal arches, garlands of flowers and the vast display of nags demonstrated the wide spread interest awakened in Londoners by the stay of the fleet in the very heart of the city. After the parade the officers and men were tendered a luncheon at the Guildhall, as guests of the lord mayor and corporation council, and subsequently en-Joyed a vaudeville entertainment, the first ever permitted at the Guildhall during the many centuries of Its existence.
