D. LUDLUM SR. DIES; EX-MEDICAL SOCIETY HEAD Dr. Walter Denton Ludlum 78, retired Brooklyn physician and former president of the Kings County Medical Society, died yesterday Methodist Hospital, 7th Ave. and 6th St.

In recent years he had made his home at 189-30 116th St. Albans. One of the first Brooklyn physicians to limit his practice to pediatrics, Dr. Ludlum became chief of the pediatric service at Kingston Hospital, and also at Methodist and Caledonian Hospitals. He was a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Brooklyn Academy of Pediatrics.

Ludlum, whose ances-dren. tors came from England to Long Island in 1050, was born April 24, 1875 in Boonton, N. J. and received his A.B. degree from New York University in 1895.

Three years later he was graduated from the New York University Medical College. was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa and Zeta Psi fraternities. Headed Medical Group in '30 After receiving his medical diploma he interned at Seney Hospital, now the Methodist Hospital, and then began his practice in Flatbush, establishing his home and office at Cortelyou and Marlborough Roads. He was elected head of the Kings Medical Society in 1930. At one Beatha Church, 10:15 a.m.

His wife, Mrs. Irene D. Ludlum, died in Januarg, 1950. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Karl York of Racine, three sons, C.

5th and Rodney and a former pastor of St. John's Church at 84th St. and 16th died yesterday in Meadowbrook Hospital, East Meadow. He was 83. and resided at 35 Mistletoe Lane, Levittown, Mr.

Happ was a native of Albany and spent his boyhood days in Port Jervis, N. Y. He was graduated in 1890 from Wagner College, then in Rochester, and later from Mount Airy Lutheran Seminary in Philadelphia. Following his ordination he became pastor in 1893 of St. John's Church, Beach, which was then a sparsely setItled farming district.

Under his direction the church edi-! fice was built and later enlarged. In 1922, after 29 years' service here, the Rev. Mr. Happ became pastor of St. Paul's Church, remaining there until his retirement in 1936.

Later he and Mrs. Happ, the former Bertha Hendrickson, moved to Florida. In June, 1949, they observed their golden wedding anniversary, Surviving, besides Mrs. Happ, are a daughter, Mrs. Bertha L.

Moeri of Miami; a son, Lewis H. Happ of Westbury, L. four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m Sunday at St. Paul's Church.

Gibbs died on Wednesday after several months' illness. He was born in Brooklyn and had spent his entire life in the borough. Appointed a court attendant in 1907 he was made a clerk in 1917 and retired in 1947. He and his wife, Mrs. Minnie Gibbs, observed their golden wedding anniversary five years lago.

Besides his wife, Mr. Gibbs is survived by a sister, Mrs. Beulah R. Hawkins of Riverdale, and two nephews, Robert C. and Clinton H.

Brennan of 176 Midwood St, who for five years had been in charge of the circulation department of the School Executive Magazine, published by the American School Publishing 474 Fourth Manhattan, died yesterday. She had been associated with the publishing house since 1913, her first employment being with the American City Magazine, published by the same company. Miss Brennan, who was a lifelong Brooklyn resident, attended St. James Parochial School and St. James Academy.

Soon after completing her studies she went to work for the publishing concern where her promotion was rapid. A parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi R. C. Church, Lincoln Road and Nostrand Miss Brennan was a member of its Rosary Society and the Auxiliary of the Nursing Sisters of the Sick Poor.

Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Lillian O'Neill, Mrs. Angela Van Noy and Mrs. Geraldine Jennings. The funeral will be held tomorrow from the residence.
