Ahlert, who was 61 and 21-resided at 12 W. 96th Manhattan, educated at City College wand Fordham Law School, and began his musicol career as an arranger for vocal and orchestral groups. His first song was published in 1914, and he wrote scores and songs for some of the early talking pictures. His first big hit, "I'd Love to Fall Asleep and Wake Up in My Mammy's Arms," was produced in 1920. Other of his top numbers sold more than 1,000,000 copies, "Mean to Me," "When the Blue included "I'll Get By," which of the Night Meets the Gold of the Day" and "I'm Gonna Sit Right Down and Write Myself a Letter." He was a member of the Song Writers Protective Association, the Lambs and the Friars.
