PARISH BALL A SUCCESS. With a parish spirit that Insures social success the parishioners of the Church of St. Mary of Immaculate Conception gathered at Arion Hall, Tuesday evening, on the occasion of the annual invitation dance tendered them by St. Mary's Catholic Club. The hall was decorated for the occasion, and an excellent dancing programme was enjoyed.

CONVENT ENTERTAINMENT. An entertainment and reception for the benefit of a new conyent was 'held Thursday night at St. Michael's parish house, Forty-second street, near Fourth avenue. J. Kenedok, A A GERMAN HOSPITAL BENEFIT. Four Performances to Be Given First Week of November of Grand Opera at Academy. That the charitable work done the year around by the German Hospital Ands true recognition is proved by the rapid sale of tickets for the four opera performances to be given at the Academy of Music on November 2, 3 and 4 with a matinee on November 3. The press committee bave their friends busy trying to keep things on the move, and the music committee reported that they had sueceeded in procuring an orchesra. The first of the series of evening whist parties will take place Tuesday evening, October 27, at Grand View Hall, Bay Twenty-third street and Bath avenue. Cards are out announcing the whist. Pretty will be given. A large attendance prizes, expected. YOUNG FOLKS EVENT.

At a regular meeting of the Independent Young Folks League at Maretta Mansion, the entertainment committee reported that to show their appreelation and to express their thanks to the members for their excellent support to their last dance, they have arranged for a halloween masque at Hart's Hall October 31 for members only. Professor Frederich Hirth of Columbia College will address the New York Unlversalist Club to-morrow evening, at the Hotel St. Denis, Broadway and Eleventh street, Manhattan, "The Open Door in the Orient." Preceding the lecture a 50- cial gathering will be held in the hotel, at 6:30 P.M. TAXPAYERS TO FEAST. The Flatbush Taxpayers Association has made elaborate preparations for the suecess of the jubilee dinner to be given by it Thursday evening, November 19, at the clubhouse of the Cortelyou Club, Bedford and Ditmas avenues, Flatbush. The Jubilee will commemorate the increase in membership over the 1,000 mark, as 1.100 members are now on the roster of the association, making it the largest association of taxpayers in Greater New York, Many prominent men have been invited to be present and to deliver addresses.

BAZAR FOR NURSING SISTERS. Most of the work has been assigned to committees in the arrangements for the coming bazar for the beneft of the NursIng Sisters of the Sick Poor, of 439 Henry street, and the full list of those assisting will be published this week. The bazar is to be held on Friday and Saturday, November 13 and 14, at the Pouch Gallery, Clinton avenue, and is being managed by the Catholic women of Brooklyn interested in this order of sisters. The general committee acknowledges the receipt of many articles for the various tables. Donations of money and articles may be sent to Mrs.

R. L. Walsh, 243 Jetferson avenue, chairman of the committee, or to Miss Adelaide Rice, 194 Clinton street, secretary, K. OF C. BAZAR.

For the purpose of furnishing their clubhouse, the members of Morris Park No. 656, ot Richmond Hill, will hold a grand bazar in the clubhouse building, from October 28 to 31 inclusive. Letters sent in all directions soliciting prizes have been received with favor, judging from the many valuable articles received. Some of the amusing features of this bazar will be: The Coal Mine, which promises to be very popular; Chamber of Horrors, Lemon Tree, Mysterious Room, Chinese Laundry, real Gypsy Fortune Teller, the Automobile Race and Japanese Tea Room. This bazar, as well as the entertainments of the council, is looked after by Lawrence H.

Reilly, His committees and every member of the council are working hard. 'Court Loretta of the Daughters of Isabella, recently instituted, is 88 much interested as the men. The choir members of St. Joseph's Benedicts Church, assisted by the Yobon Club, will have a booth, which promises to be very attractive and well patronized. A special programme 'of attractions appropriate for Halloween been prepared for Saturday, October A free bus will meet all trains at Richmond Hill and Morris Park stations.

The chapter was instituted about seven years ago, with a membership of about fifty and has grown considerably in numberg during that time. About May 1 this year the question of clubhouse was brought up, and the members took the matter up promptly. Inside of six weeks, by personal solicitation, they received sufficient money to purchase title to a large building on Lefferts avenue, near Broadway, Richmond Hill. Among the Daughters of Isabella prominent in working for the bazar are Miss Fredericka Liebmann and Miss Loretta Lovell. BOYS CLUB MEETS.

The Central Congregational Boys Club held its annual meeting Saturday evening. The following officers were elected: President, John V. Adams; vice president, John C. Sim; secretary, Joseph M. Leary.

Friday evening, November 6, Professor Darrell O. Hibbard will give a lecture on "Japan and Its People" for the club. He will appear in eight different costumes, showing the dress of the different classes of Japanese. Dr. S.

The social committees of the Manufacturers Association has on foot plans for a ladies night at the Academy of Music, December 8, and also for the sixteenth annual banquet, to be held January 28, 1909. SUCCESSFUL STAG SOCIAL. There was a thumbbit entertainment and stag racket on Tuesday evening of the Stag's Head Social Club, at the club's room on the corner of State and Smith streets. The entertainment. was unusual as a stag from the fact that the talent furnished nothing in the slightest degree improper; and unusual, too, from the fact that a number of professional people dropped in and volunteered their services. So there was no dearth of variety.

The rooms were prettily decorated. Harry Tilford was the master of ceremonies. There was a presentation of a handsome ring to Eugene Flanagan, the speech being made by Dr. C. A.

Smith. A clever three-round boxing bout was given by Johnnie Regan, ex-champion featherweight. and "Kid" Dunn. The "talent" included Joseph Linder, Chef William Farrell, Harry Breen, John W. Armour, Tom Breen, Ed.

The council is an organization which acts as an intermediary between the faculty and students of Union, and the honor of A "Fair of Nations" is to be held in the social rooms of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Incarnation, Fourth avenue and Fifty-fourth street, Brooklyn, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The proceeds of the fair are to go toward the building fund. The German booth, in charge of the Bible school, will contain a large sortment of dolls and toys. Macclinchey on Wednesday evening celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of their wedding at their home, 115 Cooper street. Many friends from all over the country visited the Cooper street cottage, which was handsomely decorated. Mr. Macclinchey was born at Rochester, N. in November, 1835, but in 1839 moved to Willimsburg, and has lived ther, ever since.

Mrs. Macclinchey was born in Harlem. She was the daughter of Police Sergeant John Dougherty. Mr. Macclinchey is member of Corner Stone Lodge, No.

The ceremony of laying the cornerstone of the Memorial Arch at Stony Point Park, N. erected by the New York State Society, Daughters the Revolution, took place last Saturday, October 17. Kunz, the president; Edward Hagaman Hall, the secretary of the American Scenic a and Historic Preservation Society: Gordon H.

Peck and H. K. Rush-Brown, trustees, and other members of that society, together with a large gathering of the Daughters of the Revolution. Members of the Daughters of the Revolution from Manhattan and Brooklyn reached the park by the West Shore Railroad, on special cars, and on arriving were joined by visitors and guests from nearby towns on the Hudson, Luncheon at the lodge was provided by the American Scenic and Historic Preservation Society. At the ceremonies incident to the laying of the cornerstone the collect of the Daughters of the Revolution was recited in unison, and prayer was offered by Dr.

Robert I. McBride. Zeb. Maybew, State Regent made a speech of introduction. Arthur S.

Tompkins, Cornelius A. Pugsley, Dr. George F. Kunz and Edward Hagaman addressed the assemblage. The cornerstone was laid by Mrs.

John Howard Abeel, chairman of the patriotic committee. The ceremony concluded with benediction by Dr. McBride, an eloquent invocation by Mrs. Maybew. About 150 persons were present.
