It is a free ten-week course in fundamental economics especial-; ly designed for high school students. Tlie textbook on which the course is based is Henry George's all-time best seller, "Progress and Poverty." Instructors report that many of the boys and girls, studying in co-i educational groups, are showing even keener interest and a quicker' grasp of economic principles than the average adult student.

Modern education, with its stress on the physical sciences, is training students in the scientific approach to learning, it was said. Young people today, it was pointed out, are undoubtedly better equipped than any generation since George's time to follow the scientific logic of his economic principles. They want to i learn how natural laws operate and. as future citizens, to learn how to i express their economic views effectively. Through the generosity of Mrs.

Anna George de Mille, daughter of Henry George and president of the school's board of trustees, the following prizes are offered upon completion of the course for the four best essays on Henry George's principles by high school students: First Prize $100 Second Prize 50 Two Third Prizes 25 About 400 students have been in attendance at the Summer sessions this year, the majority of them adults. The Fall term will start Oct. 7. with free classes in fundamental economics every afternoon and evening and advanced classes for those who have completed the basic course.
