Wal-deck Funeral Home, 7614 Fourth Ave. on September 15. Interment followed at Evergreen Ce-metary. Mrs. Tweeddale, 79, was the widow of Thomas H.

Tweeddale, a printer. She was a direct descendant of Maturin Ballou, who was one of the first settlers of Providence, R. with Roger Williams. She was also a direct descendant of William Havilland, who settled Newport, R. I.

The Havilland family sold 200 acres of land to Benedict Arnold's grandfather, who was the first governor of Rhode Island. They then moved to Great Neck, L. and lived on the site of the present Kings Point Academy. The Havilland family had their own private cemetary in Great Neck, where every member of the household, including slaves, were burried until 1830. Blood-good Cutter, a Long Island poet and relation of the Havillands, put up a monument to his mother there.

He was also a friend of Mark Twain. Mrs. Tweeddale was also a cousin of James A. Garfield, 20th President of the United States. She was the daughter of the late William E.

Kretschmann, who died Last Sunday in Veterans Hospital, was an Elder in the church. He served in the Army during both World War II and in the Korean War." He came to this country in 1925, first worked for the Sheffield Farms Co. and had a vholesale milk route in downtown Manhattan. He went into the tavern business 15 years ago. MRS. TWEEDDALE Mr.

Mitchell worked in the carriage trade with a man named Park. He later sold his interest to Mr. Tilford, and the famous Park Tilford distilleries were born. The Mitchells have their own private cemetary in Brookville. She is survived by three sons, Harold, Robert and William Twe-eddalej two daughters, Doris Harris and Ethel Voorhees; two sisters, Edna Mitchell and Char- lotte Leary; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to being an Elder in Union Church, Mr. Kretsch mann served on the church's board of Stewards and on its Board of Trustees. He is survived by his wife Winifred; a daughter, Janice, a son, Paul, and a sister, Mrs. Ruth Rimmer.

In charge of funeral arrangements was Fred Herbst Sons Me morial, 7501 Jifth Ave. Mr. Duffy's brother, Brian, operates another Duffy's Tavern, at 4615 Fifth Ave. A third Duffy's Tavern was sold several years ago when another brother, Lawrence, died. The late tavern owner was a member of the Long Island General Assembly, Fourth Degree, Knights of Columbus, General Phil Sheridan Council No.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Anne Browne Duffy; two sons, Brian and Lawrence; two sisters and two brothers green Cemetary. Mrs. Palmer, 73, is survived, by a daughter, Hazel Williams; and two grandsons, Thomas and, Kenneth.
