He started his career as a steamship mart soon after completirg his schooling. An ardent horseman, he was member of the Riding and Driving Club of Brooklyn. He also was a member of the old Crescent Athletic Club, the unison Country Club of Rumson. N. and the Catholic Club of New York.

The funeral will be held Wednesday from his home, with requiem ma-si at 10 a m. at St. Charles Bor-romeo's R. C. Church, Sidney Place and Livingstone St.

Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Mr. Hagarty never married. He Albert C.

Hagarty. owner of the tdwin Low's Steamship Agency which- for years was at 5th Ave. and 42d Si, Manhattan and brother of Supreme Court Justice William P. Hagarty. died of pneumonia today in St.

Peter's Ho-pital. He was 19 and lived at 1 Grace Court. One of the most widely-known t'eamship men in this country. Mr. Hagartjventered the employ of the Clyde Steamship Company in the law 90s and later became its general passenger agent.

He resigned that post In 1910 to take over the Lew Steamship Agency. He continued the concern until the outbreak of the present war, when he was compelled to su-pend active business. During World War I he successfully arranged for the transportation of nearly all the Y. M. C.

23 Ptetro Yon. 57, organist and musical director St. Patrick's Cathedral, Manhattan, died in his sleep here this morning at the home of his son's father-in-law. Ricardo San Vera. Mr.

Yon was a noted composer and an honorary organist of the Vatican. He suffered a stroke on Atvil and has been in failing health since that time. Mr. Yon had written more than 70 compositions. Including seven masses and other works for organ and piano.

The Triumph of St. Patrick," an oratorio based on the life of Ireland's patron saint and said to be the first American oratorio, was his major composition. His most recent work was the mass. 'Thy Kingdom Come," written last Darlen. Conn, Not.

Simon W. Cooper, 78. who was associated with the news and editorial departments of the Brooklyn Eagle for 53 years when he retired in 1934, died yesterday at his home here after a brief illness. He had lived in DwrVen since 1903. Born in Baby km May C.

1864 the son of the late James and Gtor-lanna 8. Cooper, he was educated in the public and private schools there. He learned the printer's trade in the office of the South Side Signal of that village, later becoming its acting editor. In 1882 he became local correspondent at Babv-Ion for the Brooklyn Eagle. He Joined the city staff in 1902 as Long Island editor and later telegraph editor.

When World War I broke out. Mr. Cooper was placed in charge of the war desk, a post he held throughout hostilities. After that he served as cable editor. In 1926 he was transferred to the editorial department.

Police today were combine the borough for a trio of gunmen who this morning- held up a clothing; store at 14 Manhattan Ave, escapinr in a black sedan with $6,800 worth of jewelry and $1,800 in cash. Police said two of the men held up Herbert Lieblanz, proprietor of the store, and his clerk, Mitchell Lostfogel. while the third stayed in the car. Lieblanx and Lostfogel, after opening the safe, were forced into the cellar while the thieves rifled the safe. GRANDMOTHER ACCUSED AS GAMBLING HOSTESS Mrs.

Betty Diamond, 40, and the grandmother of three children, was to be arraigned today in East New York Court on a charge of maintaining a place for gambling. She was arrested in her home, 372 Amboy St, by Patrolman William Giattini. who charged he found eight women and two men engaged in a poker game there. Mrs. Diamond's lawyer told the court that Mrs.

Garden City. No. 22 Hamilton H. Salmon, retired importer of chemicals and widely-known amateur horseman, died here yesterday at bis home at the age of tZ. Bora in Brooklyn, March 14.

1861. Mr. Salmon was the son of H. H. Salman, founder of H.

H. Salmon Co. Manhattan. He retired a number of years mo as head of that concern. Later he formed the firm of Hamilton H.

Salmon it lumber dealers, Wall St. Mr. Salmon, who for many years was identified with the Brooklyn Ridin; and Driving Club as vice president, served as Judge in numerous nationaj horse ihowv He was the owner of the celebrated tandem team. "Highflyer and 'Lady Jess," which shortly after the turn of the century were a feature of the Brooklyn and the National Horse Shows, and which were held by some horsemen to be the finest tandem team ever placed on exhuitio.i. He be exhibit-ing prize-winning pedigreed horses in 1894.

Prominent tn fraternal and club life. Mr. Salmon was a 32d degree Mason, and formerly was a member of the old Oxford Club and the Crescent Athletic Club. Private funeral services will be held at 2 pm. tomorrow at 111 Hilton Garden City.

Burial will be in Green-Wood Cemetery. Surviving are a son, Hamilton H. Salmon Jr and a grandson, Lt. Hamilton Salmon 3d, who Is serving in the U. S.

Nov. 22-Wiliiam Braun, retired customs inspector and former resident of Brooklyn, died yesterday of a heart attack while walking in Van Cortlandt Park, the Bronx, near his home at 82 Caryl Ave. He was 71 and unmarried. Mr. Braun, who was born In Brooklyn, the ton of Carl and Christina Braun, formerly lived at 1691 Gates Ave.

He came to Yonkers seven years ago. He was with the S. Customs Service from 1904 to 1938. when he retired. Prior to 1904 he was with R.
