The buyers were able to claim warranted titles for their bids at prices totaling $40,690. They pointed rtit. the bid prices were about 10 percent more than the upset prices. The Upset prices listed in the sale constituted the aggregate of county taxes and penalties due on the properties. County Executive J. Russell Sprague, who planned the sals as part of the tax and assessment re- lorm program Instituted by him, vis-ited the auction during tha first afternoon of the sales.

"It is too early to predict whether this type of sale, bringing relief to paying taxpayers, will be as successful as hoped," said Mr. Sprague. "Every indication Is that It will be. I am pleased with the results so far." Sale of properties listed in the second section of the county will be held Saturday, Oct. 1, at the Nassau County Police Auditorium.
